Default Starting a new guard regiment

Hello! ;D
I am starting a new guard regiment with the colour scheme grey and orange however, i do not know what i should buy in order to start off the regiment. The reason that i am not sure, is because, this regiment is not a howley new army from the other regiment. It is in the same army but they have different colour schemes. I currently have:
1 command squad
1*30 man platton +5 man command squad
1*iron fist squad+transport
1*Leman Russ

With this new regiment i want it not to just have elites i want it to basiccally be the backbone of my army (and the most skilled section) Please help me! I am tottaly confused! :-\

a few welcome additions:
3 sentinels, all lascannons.
rough riders
hellhound.

just a few good units. maybe some ratlings.
i would add a lascannon team or two, maybe a platoon of them.
or [and i'm blowing my own horna bit here] you could look at my thing in conversion [modular tanks], you will be easily able to build alternative tanks [and if you PM i'll be illegal and hint at the rules].
it all depends on your style of play mate, if you like to just be scary large then choose more infantry. if you want to scare the absolute crap out of you enemy, field 3 russ tanks of various types [a battle tank, demolisher and exterminator are good]. as before, it all depends on what you want.

working on the skilled/ veteran idea, choose a large squad of vet's, a squad of storm troopers and use the special weapon team for your command.

i'll 'translate':

he has an army already, he wants to add to make a new army.

he already has a good variety.
from your comment in the 'why did you start' thread, i would suggest getting 2 more 35 man platoons. back them up with a basilisk. it's cheap, good range and can hide well behind your wall of troops to avoid assaulting units.
your leman russ can be used to move up and support the men while your fist can capture.
then all you'd need are specialist anti tank and you'd be good.

What heavy weapons do you have? That may be something you take into consideration before spending money on Sentinels or Rough Riders...etc...

You will always want a solid chunk of men to take and deal the pain before adding on the extra interesting models to the army. If anything, I'd say fill the platoon to a full 5 infantry squads (and the command squad, for those trying to find fault... :) and deploy as many heavy weapons as possible.

After that, a Hellhound does sound appealing.

Although, I do prefer autocannon sentinels over lascannon sentinels. Autocannons are great weapons, sometimes overlooked.

yeah, they do fit nicely in between las and multilaser. but then, they all have their roles. if you have the las, you should really adda hunter killer too. but that's when it gets expensive.

well, you could do with a few lascannons. maybe a couple of heavy bolters.

if you want a hellhound:
get a chimera. cut off the rear troop section and fit in a 2" wide tube, re-attach the top [cut down to fit around the tube]. remove the multilaser and fit on a heavy flamer head [like the ones you get with all IG tanks. you have yourself a hellhound. and you save a fiver [or $10 if you america].if you really want, i can make you a much better version, with pictures. i am doing the modular thing at the moment and the more the merrier [especially if i get karma for each bit :shifty: ].
