Default Sabbat Martyr

I've just finished sabbat martyr and i am now realy, realy convinced to collect the imps. But I've been down this route before, everytime I get put off by the fact I cannot design a playable army that fits my ideals of the imperial guard. I was thinking of death korps but they seem a bit cold and impersonal and I very much like the idea of boisterous soldier types like the tanith... then for this reason i thought of catachans but my club uses hardly any terrain and definately not enough to make them worthwhile and also they dont pack any anti-tank punch. So what I'm looking for is the attitude of the Tanith/Catachan/Pardus with playabilty. so no light infantry or jungle fighters but with that style. Hope you understand and can help me...

Well, there is really nothing stopping you from using a combination of Cadian and Catachan models. You don't have to use the rules for Jungle Fighters in order to use the models.

Frankly, Cadians sound like they'd suit you just fine. Cadians are the definitive soldiers: They're not as strictly disciplined and regimented as the Mordian Iron Guard, but not so raucous and ranbunctious as the Catachans. They're middle-of-the-road fighting men (in terms of character).

Soldiers drink; they joke; they fight; they swear; they gamble; they compare sexual conquests; and they engage in reckless acts of one-upmanship. Cadians are soldiers, and they are generic enough to project onto them whatever manner of persona you wish. Furthmore, they come in excellent plastic kits, thereby making it easy to customise them with whatever non-regulation uniforms/equipment you like.

Thanks for the in put guys, I think I've decided to combine the catachans and pardus into my own regiment; nickname: The Falcons, from a promethium rich hive world, the polution from which all but blocks out sunlight. They are therefore expert stealthers, also from the hive they are great cityfighters. the amount of promethium they sell also gives them the money and resources to field large amounts of tanks.

Im going to buy 2 catachan battleforces and make this list:

HQ

6 man command squad lead by colonel.

2 sentinels - autocannons, hunter killers and rough terrain modification

2 sentinels - autocannons, hunter killers and rough terrain modification

3 Las-cannons

Troops

Platoon command squad - officer, 2 melta-guns, 2 with las pistols and ccweapons

infantry squad - missile launcher

My favorite of the Gaunt's Ghosts books to date.

Best of luck with your new regiment!

The command squads are 5 man including the officer, so one guy must be dropped.
