Default I'm considering starting an Imperial guard army, a few questions first though

Hi, I've been playing tau for a while now and I'm thinking about starting an Imperial guard army,

But I have a few questions:

1)I've heard that there's a doctrine that allows you to equip basic guardsmen with laspistols and close combat weapons, is this true?

2)If the answer to the above is yes, does anyone know where I can get all the individual arms I'd need to make such an army?

Thanks for your time

Here is a word of advice, they are going to drop doctrines in the new book that will be upcoming for guard, the rumours didnt hint towards them keeping warrior weapons so I would only make a small army first then wait till the new one comes out, if it keeps warrior weapon then continue on with your project, if it dosent sell them or count them as conscripts or something.

In that case I'll wait for the new guard codex

But just out of interest, does anyone know of a UK based bits supplier?

Just thinking somewhere in the UK would be cheaper and quicker

Quicker yes, cheaper no.

Here in the 21st century, international mail is cheap as chips.
