Default Plastic Ogryns

Over the weekend I was talkin to my local store manager and asked about plastic Ogryns after a long talk i was told the cast for a Ogryn is 20,000 (i think he,s lying there) if you look at the metal Ogryn is 10 so if a mould is 20,000 they would have to sell 2000 Ogryns but if you made them out of plastic say 5 for 35 or the same price as fatasy Ogres theat would attract more intrest in buying Ogryns and it would be much simpler to buy plastic Ogryns rather then having to convert them from fantasy Ogres so do you think the should do plastic Ogryns

As is, one of the main reasons Ogryns are not popular aside from model cost is their general suckiness as a dedicated melee unit. Given the ability to buy either a Grey Knight Marine or an Ogryn for the same cost, the Grey Knight wins. The Ogryn is a pointsink which will attract the firepower of missile launchers, battlecannons, and other Strength 8+weapons, making the multiple wounds redundant, while hidden Powerfists take care of the rest of them. The one addition that could redeem such a unit, the Priest, cannot even be attached to an Ogryn Unit; were the Priest attachable, my opinion of the unit would change considerably.

The difference between metal, plastic, and resin is the cost per unit and cost per mold.

By far, plastic injection molds are the most expensive, but have the cheapest cost per unit. Hence, they are best for things you will be selling a ton of.

Metal is cheaper, but more expensive per unit. Good for things you'll sell less of.

Resin is cheaper for molds, and much more expensive for each model, but its better for fine detail work (forge World Style). Hence better for specialty, high-quality models.

Oh, and 20000 pounds is about right- some molds can run up to $50,000 USD.
