Default Booby Trap Clarification

I was just reading through the deathworld veteran rules, and more specifically the booby trap rules when I noticed this rule:

"A booby trap remains effective in the square it has been placed in for the duration of the battle"

I'm interpretting this to mean that even after it's set off, that trap can be set off again later in the battle. Am I right here?

Hmm, I'm unsure too. I didn't realize it either until you pointed it out.

Feh, you said booby.

I don't think it really matters. I mean, once the opponent sets it off, they'll probably avoid it again, so even if it could be reused, only someone not paying attention would run into it again (think "rake on lawn").

Well I would imagine from a fluffy point of view that when you take a shredder mine its a field not a "mine" because I cant imagine catachans deploying a single mine in a large area and when an ork steps on a mine there like "Ownezed, we killed like 2 orks that time!"

You can't imagine that? I can, quite easily in fact. :P

So this would be a um...RAI? (is that it?) over RAW?

Well if you use RAW, then you are correct it will always work, but like it's been said before, unless your opponent is stupid he won't walk over there again.

Well sometimes you don't really have much choice in the matter. The squares are 1'x1' so most units won't be able to cross them in anything less than 3 turns (assuming they don't get awesome difficult terrain roles every turn) and then there are those times when you either choose to move through traps or deal with some other obstacle.

The RAW makes sense from a fluff perspective to me as well, but I thought I'd check to be sure.
