Default Hunting Dogs/Wolf packs?

Now those that know me, know that I occasionally like to use existing model rules to represent new ones. Such as creating a Numenorean list with addition of Gondor and Rohan models in LotR SBG.

Anyways... After seeing the Golden Compass, and the Sibirsk regiment (the Tartars with wolf-daemons), I considered basing an army on them. The idea was to model wolves on the bases and give them doctrines such as Iron Discipline (they seemed to be very loyal to their commanders) and Hardened Fighters (the extra WS representing the joint attack of the wolves and men).
Anyway I abandoned such ideas in favour of a more mobile regiment, but it is this that has got me thinking about using dog/wolf packs in game, represented by the Rough Riders. Obviously they wouldn't be able to have laspistols (unless they were a wierd alien breed that spits poison or spines), so that could be swapped with the hunting lance. I'm just a little stuck on idea for the reason why they only get the bonus on their very first attacks. Any ideas?

Look at fantasy Undead Dire wolves - they have a rule called Slavering Charge, or something, where the impetus of the charge increases their strength when they charge. Something like that, maybe? To show their momentum on the charge is what makes them more effective?

Yes, I was thinking about charge momentum but I am a little unsure, because if they charge again later in the game they suddenly don't get hte bonus, although I guess this could be explained away with bloodlust or something...

How about drugs? Have them are equipped with a single dose that puts them into a frenzy, allowing them to bite through metal. This explains the one use power weapons. If they charge, the endorphines/adrenaline released mixes with the drugs, increasing their strength & reflexes. Voila! Instant rabid attack dogs! Just keep them well fed.

Well, I don't want to really go into the drug region. to me that seems like something more for Chaos, Dark Eldar and undisciplined Guard regiments...
I'm sure bloodthirst or the ferocity of a first assault would be more than enough to explain it though. Now just to work out how to fit in some RR, in the form of hunting packs... Not sure on the official models I'd base them off yet but there seems to be a few and with new SWs coming there may be some nice wolves there...
