Default Quick question

I am very new to IG and had a question about how the units are set up.

When adding a heavy weapons team do the 2-3 guys in the heavy weapons team count towards the 10 troop squad?

Or do they count on top of that so I can use 10 lasguns and a heavy bolter for example?

No, there are always ten in a troop squad, adding a heavy weapons team simply re arms two of them, same goes for special weapons.

Mod Edit: Please note, it only re-equips one of the men. The second guardsmen (the loader) can still fire his lasgun normally.

As far as I can tell they both do. I see nothing that says the heavy weapon replaces either member's lasgun, and it seems logical to me that a Guardsman would retain his personal weapon. Am I wrong?

Not at all, it's perfectly logical, as with most armies.

IIRC, for the new BA/DA/Chaos forces it's specifically stated that they replace weapon X when they purchase weapon Y, but otherwise you keep your original gear.

Was it you that wrote the "wait, how many weapons?" article for Space Marines?

Definitely not. It's supported by the rules, and even the fluff- in DOW when you pack a weapon team and move, he's got a las gun.

No, but I think I may have argued strongly in favour of bolter-toting heavy weapons marines...either that thread or one like it.

I was simply referring to the fact that the second team member can still fire his lasgun while the other one fires the heavy weapon.

Which, by the way, is really absurd, as the loader has no purpose other than aesthetics. If he's there, he should be needed to actually fire the heavy weapon!
