Default Themed guard ideas

Heres an idea i just thought of today while i was trapped in my house because the cold and ice today. Tell me what you think, thanks in advance.*

[glow=red,2,300]Brimingham Guard [/glow]
[glow=red,2,300]Home world[/glow]- Brimingham Secondus, near the Ultramar. The planet is almost always in darkness, the planet has an Old English theme to it.
[glow=red,2,300]Origin[/glow]- The Brimingham Guard started when a great crusade by the black templars came to their planets to cleanse the huge amounts of orks that lived there. The black templars were running low on marines and supplies so they recruited form the population and trained them in the arts of war, since they were trained by iniaties there extremely loyal to the emperor and trained vigorously hard. After the orks were subdued the planetary governor went traitor. As soon as the Brimingham Guard advanced on his fortress he ran away from there might. His army how ever was left behind and the Brimingham Guard quickly Destroyed the army with Calvary Charges and volleys of there powerful repeater muskets supported by the practiced marksmenship of there elite foot knights.
[glow=red,2,300]Organization[/glow]- The Organization of the Brimingham Guard follows the one set down for a standard imperial guard force as they are loyal, almost zealous to the emperor and guard so they follow its rules with the utmost strictness.
[glow=red,2,300]Tactics[/glow]- The Brimingham Guard are experts in practically everything but infiltration, they are like these because the templars were tactical marines that taught* them and like tactical marines there able to adapt for any situation, but they are predominantly trench fighters. They are highly zealous just like the templars and have a history of sometimes running out on the field to get their hands on the orks that they are expert fighters at but if the circumstances are right they will hold there ground in a disciplined fashion. The Birmingham Guard also will set up highly disciplined shoulder to shoulder volleys*with their muskets causing colossal damage to anybody charging towards there highly defensive trenches. They will not always utilize close formations though if the enemy is know for its use in artillery or flamers. They are supported by elite foot knights which is there equivilent to a stormtrooper.
[glow=red,2,300]Equipment[/glow]- A vest and skirt type clothing adorned in thick plates of armor and helmets similar to the WW1 doughboys (they look very similar to the brettonian men-at-arms). They carry repeater muskets thatís ammunition is highly powerful. A lantern as this is a night world, and as well as many knives and close combat weapons like there templar teachers. There Calvary is similar to that of medieval knights. The guard also carry trench survival packs, poison to kill themselves if captured, and night vision enhancements in their eyes.

Birmingham Guard in dress uniform.* * * * * *

PS- i know its a civil war soldier but i wanted this to be there dress uniform and the genswick rifles to look like there battle uniform. I also know a black templar training a marine could kill a guard as they would be worn out so i had scouts train them.

Haha! Birmingham, almost always in darkness. Must be the pollution.

"Mos Eisley spaceport. You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy...except Birmingham."

Meh, you should choose Birmingham, a useless factoid, but there is reference to the planet Birmingham in the old Rogue Trader rulebook, or as it is more often known according to that mighty tome, the Black Planet as it's nearly always dark and nobody ever wants to go there.

I kid ye not!

thanks, i thought of it when i saw the planet of birmingham on lexicanum, i wondered if anybody made an IG army of it so i looked at the guard regiments sticky and saw the genswick rifles, i just put 2 and 2 together and voila, a pretty cool idea, i also have another idea if you guys want to see it, its a mixture between DKoK, real world WW1 storm troopers, and legio mortis's 75th rifles.

Oh, using the Bretonnian Men-At-Arms for the uniforms? Those armies always come out fantastically.

yeah, i am planning theme to be very dark and dreary to with a templar tang.

heres my DKoK-WW1 storm troopers-legio mortis's 75th rifles, idea

Stosstruppen guard rushing for cover from the incoming barrage from the traitor guard.

[glow=red,2,300]Stosstruppen Guard 84th siege regiment[/glow]
[glow=red,2,300]Home world[/glow]- Germanium, a cousin of Krieg. Germanium is a large planet with two orbiting moons. The climate is boreal, with large mountain ranges in the poles and a wide ocean on the western hemisphere.
[glow=red,2,300]Origin[/glow]- Upon the discovery of the planet Germanium, a large planet located in the galactic south of the Segmentum Tempestus, the landing crew was surprised to discover the vast amount of human life but the traitorous governor that the people refused to follow. The guard made use of the population and subdued the governor in years of atomic war. Continent long trench systems span the surface, and gains are measured in yards and meters (It seems to be the traditional way of waging war, not unlike those of our siege units). Most of the traitors died before the terrific might of the Imperium. The various leaders elected a planetary governor, and began a new life under Imperial rule. They are similar to krieg grenadiers, but instead carry a highly advanced bolt action rifle or a more advanced auto gun .
[glow=red,2,300]Organization[/glow]- The organization of the Stosstruppen Guard is almost identical to that of Death Korps of Krieg which is a standard guard organization but they have a high amount of commissars because the Stosstruppen Guard commissars believe if they set an image for a soldier they should fight and die along side even the lowliest* conscript.
[glow=red,2,300]Tactics[/glow]- The Stosstruppen were specialist military troops which were formed in the last years of the 30k, as the army developed new methods of attacking enemy trenches, called "infiltration tactics". Men trained in these methods were known in Germanium as Sturmmann (literally "assault man" but usually translated as Stosstruppen), formed into companies of Sturmtruppen. Other armies have used the term "assault troops", "shock troops" or fire teams for specialist soldiers who perform the infiltration tasks of a Stosstruppen but none could match them. They are most famous for never flinching, even in the face of sudden death and they see their deaths in war as penance for the heresy of their ancestors years before. They are a dedicated trench and siege warfare force and perform best in wars of attrition. The Stosstruppen Guard regiments routinely volunteer for tours of service in the most dangerous warzones in the Imperium which means they have earned a fierce reputation across the galaxy. They excel in trench and siege warfare but have taken part in various different actions across many campaigns such as the Taros Campaign, the Third War for Armageddon, the Atria Wilderness Campaign and the Vorenz III Campaign to name but a few. They can be counted on over most other Imperial regiments to hold their ground and when advancing prefer a massive offensive over an extended front with a rolling barrage artillery support. Many Stosstruppen regiments are adept raiders of entrenched positions should a massed offensive be impractical or require the softening up of enemy positions before any such offensive can take place. The fact that the Stosstruppen Guard are known for unconditional loyalty and ruthlessness in prosecuting their wars mainly comes from the atomic purging that* Stosstruppen 84th siege regiment under the command of Colonel Jurten inflicted on their own planet during the civil war, a fact that the Stosstruppen in general* Stosstruppen 84th siege regiment in particular are very proud of.* The most recent campaign of the Stosstruppen was the Siege of Vraks, fought in an attempt to return the planet to the Imperium, away from the hands of the fallen Cardinal Xaphan and his Traitor Guardsmen. They are currently in the middle of trench warfare, holding out until the arrival of Dark Angels reinforcements. Another highly use method of war is the following.
The methods developed to assault trenches during Atomic purging usually started with a lengthy artillery barrage all along the line followed by an assault from massed lines of infantry. Colonel Jurten suggested an alternate approach which consisted of these basic steps, combining some previous and some new attacks in a complex strategy:
1. A short artillery bombardment, featuring heavy shells mixed with numerous poison gas projectiles would concentrate on neutralizing the enemy front lines, but not to destroy them.
2. Under a creeping barrage, the Stosstruppen guard would move forward and infiltrate the traitor guard at previously identified weak points. They would always die to the last man than give up and attempt to destroy or capture enemy headquarters and artillery strong points.
3. After the Stosstruppen had done their job, Germanium Army units, heavily equipped with machine guns, mortars and flamethrowers, would make heavy attacks along narrow fronts against any traitor* strongpoints the shock troops missed. When the artillery was in place, officers could direct the fire wherever it was needed to accelerate the breakthrough.
4. In the last stage of the assault, regular infantry would mop up any remaining traitor resistance.
The new assault methods involved men rushing forwards in small groups using whatever cover was available and laying down covering fire for other groups in the same unit as they moved forwards. The new tactics, which were intended to achieve tactical surprise, were to attack the weakest parts of an enemy's line, bypass his strongpoints and to abandon the futile attempt to have a grand and detailed plan of operations controlled from afar. Instead, junior leaders could exercise initiative on the spot. Any enemy strong points which had not been over-run by Stosstruppen could be attacked by second echelon troops following the Stosstruppen.
[glow=red,2,300]Equipment[/glow]-Appearance wise, the Stosstruppen are similar to the Armageddon Steel Legion, but have darker colors, and their masks might have a skull motif. Of all the regiments of the Guard, they are the most gloomy and dark, both in appearance and in spirit due to the years of atomic purging the inhabitants of their home world inflicted on themselves. Uniform cut and design is almost consistent throughout the entire Stosstruppen Guard but colours can vary from regiment to regiment and the officer ranks tend to have slightly more ornate uniforms than the rank and file. Sometimes regiments will fight in a uniform very similar to the WW1 german stormtroopers depending on the climate and danger rate of the planet they fight on. Spiked helmets are famously worn by the Stosstruppen Guard however this is rarely the case, but many troops maintain the tradition either with improvised spikes or, less commonly, older issues of the spiked helmet that have survived and been passed down through families. Also the uniform and style of the Stosstruppen closely resembles the uniform of German soldiers in World War I. Stosstruppen Guard units prefer to use Meltaguns and Heavy Bolters. But have access to Mortars, Heavy Stubbers, Lascannons, Autocannons and Flamers. As with most Imperial Guard their standard issue individual weapon is the Lasgun and many carry a Laspistol but the Stosstruppen use highly advanced auto guns or bolt action rifles. The multi purpose knife carried by all members of the Stosstruppen is a bayonet but also a field tool. The citizens of Germanium are gloomy but hard working, and this is reflected in the weapons and equipment used by the Death Korps which is very utilitarian compared to many Imperial Guard regiments, but ultimately, fit for purpose. The rebellion on Germanium saw the creation of may variants of known vehicles including the Ragnarok heavy tank as an alternative to the Leman Russ and the Siegfried light tank.
