Default New army, Ideas - Breif Background - Scheme and theme

Well If I get my new job I'll be earning around 600 bucks a week. After all my debts are paid off (about 1500 bucks) I'll begin a new army... This time I'll go for IG.

Here is my general Ideas

-Sentinel Heavy (12 of in pretty much any battle over 1000 points)
-2 squads of Veterans
-2 Tech Priests and servitors
-1 3 squad Infantry Platoon
-1 Armored Fist Squad
-1 4 squad Conscript Platoon (or another infantry platoon)
-1 Lemen Russ
-2 Basilisks
-Chameleon (or die hards, not sure yet)

That will be the core force, maybe add some chimeras etc and possibly some heavy weapon platoons.

Color Scheme will be Yellow and Black Camouflage.

Regiment will be the 151st Cadian 'Fists of the Imperium'. The name came from their love for fighting with the Imperial Fists. They are the Imperial Guards finest siege Defence Regiment and as such fight along side the Imperial Fists on many occasions.

So as a basis, what do you all think?

Hmm, fist thing I see, lots of sentinels- how neat! not often seen, often pondered the effectiveness of loads of light armor. Tech priests are another not-often seen unit. Are you sing heavy bolter retinue? For conscripts, I heartily recommend an attached commissar. Chameleon doctrine also not often seen. (get it? lolz but seriously.) though for a siege unit, id probably go with die-hards, and id recommend close order drill.

Now, with a siege theme, id recommend using basilisks and demolishers over standard Russ tanks. Also lots of heavy weapons, perhaps pulling out the not often seen mortar.

The load of sentinels in a siege army confuses me as sentinels are primarily used for scouting IIRC.

dunno if the imperial fists have allies, but sounds like a neat idea to me.

Well, I'd get rid of conscripts. If they really are the Guards finest Siege regiment (any of the DKoK would give them a hard run for their money), then poorly trained preteens are out of the question. I can see armored fist squads as fast breakthrough units, and some Demolishers would fit a bit better than the Russ.

On the question of the camo though, I'd change it. Unless they're always going to be fighting in a field of dandelions, then I'd say that shades of brown would be the way to go. The Guard are much more pragmatic than the Marines.

Are the DkoK not Siege attackers? Somewhat like the Iron Warriors in terms of siege. I see your point on conscripts.

Hmm maybe I have to think about the whole siege thing. Perhaps a recon unit?

Using
- Mechanized (but that means alota money) - OR Chameleon = OR Light Infantry
- Tech Priests
- Die Hards
- Hardened Fighters
- Veterans

I will have to find somthing else to put into my heavy choices... or not use them.

It will either be 9 sentinels and a Hell hound, or 12 sentinels. 12 sentinels means a total of 360 total armor on the field. Hmm... I'll fiddle around with a list and see what I can get into.

I think i'll need a better name as well... any ideas?

But you can take two techpriests as 1 elites choice.

I really don't think that there's a difference between siege defenders and attackers. They're all rolled into siege regiments that do it all.

Because the tactics for both are extremely different.

Imperial Fists are the Space Marines Finest Defence Chapter
The Iron Warriors were the Finest Attack Chapter in terms of siege.

But any way... back on topic.
How would that much light armor do on the field do you think?

Well then, pray tell, what's the difference? Siege regiments do both attacking and defending when it comes to siege and trench warfare.
