Default More than meets the eye

If you were my opponent, would you mind if I modeled certain things to each squad, which would not change the gameplay? For instance, a model per squad will be painted as a medic. (Red cross on helmet and shoulder pads) But these models would not change the game at all. They are there for looks.

Or a model with a long barreled lasgun (Sniper) but just used as a lasgun. That sort of thing.

Would it really matter? It is not WYSIWYG, but it does not alter gameplay. Thanks for lookin'!

You might mess with some people's minds, but it should be fine. I, at least wouldn't care.

I wouldn't mind. But we all know that there are those gamers out there that have to have everything exact and will follow it to the ends of the earth before it's all correct.

Same here. But actually, I would prefer to make some house rules for them. It would be a waste to simply ignore all those nicely painted medics.

If you tell them about it before hand I don't see how they could complain

Maybe the medic gives the first non-instant kill wound per turn a 4+ invuln? That would be cool.

Yea, as long as they aren't models without the gear represnting stuff with the gear, I'd have no problem with it, as long as its not something groundbreakingly different, like a guy with a meltagun representing a guy with a lasgun. I don't know who would ever do that though anyways.

As long as upgrades and weapons are represented correctly, then it's fine. How you paint or model them is completely up to you. For a long-barrelled lasgun - as long as its converted enough to look more like a Sniper Rifle than a Lasgun so that people don't mistake it for the latter, that should be fine too.

I figured this would help add more flavor and appeal to my drop troop army, so thought I would post it up here.
