Default What about Allies?

I recently found out that a Guard Army can ally itself with either the Daemonhunters or WitchHunters and take specific choices from their lists. I am curious if very many people take advantage of this in their IG lists and if so what units do you suggest? I would think that something to give you some CC power for counter charges would be usefull, but I am mostly unfamiliar with the WitchHunters and Daemonhunters.

i take a minimal Inquisitor Lord with a Callidus or Eversor Assassin, I dont take grey knights as my main opponent is chaos and when he hears Im taking Daemonhunter allies he maxes out on daemons, which get Sustained attack i really hate fighting all those bloodletters!

A trio of demonhosts is always a nice bonus for a guard army too, as long as you keep them far away from your own troops. I deployed them at the start of the game instead of deepstriking once and manged to exclusively roll terrify and blood boil for 3 straight turns, much to the detriment of my nearby infantry :-[

An inquisitor Lord with a psycannon and 3 heavy bolter servitors makes a nice high-accuracy troop killer squad too.

Vindicare Assasain just for flavor. You have to admit, they are way more guard-ish than the other assasins.

To avoid disrupting the theme of your army you could take models to represent the Inquisitor Lord and Vindicare that bear a close resemblance to the main body of your force. For instance, in a Cadian army your Inquisitor Lord and henchmen could essentially amount to little more than a small squad of Kasrkin for all intents and purposes, and your Vindicare assassin could be a master sniper of your own design (or you could just use the Cadian sniper model). This is something I would very much like to do myself.

Canoness with a Book of St. Lucius! Its like having her attached to 2 different squads at once & AFAIK you'll never to modify the leadership stat. So that means any squad in range as a Ld 10 stat that can't be reduced!

I use a Grand Master with his bodyguard of Grey Knight Terminators, and an Inquisitor with some henchmen.

Actually it's a strange but true fact that using DH to kill daemons is generally a bad idea because they can keep coming back and the GKs aen't strong enough egainst the daemons (especially in cc).
