Default Armoured battlegroups- Legal?

This week i got my Imperial Armour vol. I (I'll call it IA1 for simplicity's sake...) i ordered, and now I've decided to start an Armoured battlegroup (The army list in the book), but before i get crazy and order seven chimeras with Forge world additions, I'd really like to know if people actually allow the usage of this list. From what I've heard, most of the gaming members on this forum seems to have experiences with assholes complaining on WYSIWYG and other minimalistic things.

Would they allow this list?

Not in tornaments, but it'd be a wierd 'friendly' game if your opponent told you you're not allowed to use it. Besides, if he won't let you use your armoured battlegroup then that just the same as him telling you he doesn't want a game. Don't worry about it, only a handful of people have a problem with some of the vehicles on the list. Some people get upset about flyers with heavy smart bombs using the 'Death from the skies' rules, and slick loading BS4 Vanquishers, but that's about it, nothing else is really overpowered on that list.

What do you mean about WYSIWYG though? It'd be fine to represent a Vanquisher with a slightly modified Leman Russ, but it wouldn't be cricket if you tried to represent a Cyclops with a Chimera or a Hydra with a Basilisk. You've got to be reasonable.

Oh, WYSIWYG was just an example on what i've heard players getting upset on, such as:

"My officer here has carapace armour, power sword, bolt pist..."
"Hey! The model holds a laspistol, not a bolt pistol!"
"But now you know he holds one. Anyway, the command squad has..."
"You have to represent the equipment on the model!"
"Whatever, you know he has a bolt pistol now, so lets just start playing!"
"No. I refuse to play against you. Because *Insert previous posts here*"

Oh, I see, you're just making the point that people are fussy. That being so you think people will refuse to play against an Armoured Battlgroup. Well personally I don't think that'll be the case, but in those situations when you are presented with such players, you can legally play an Armoured Company instead. You're rarer units will just have to sit that one out.

I agree, you don't want a your opponent saying
"your vanquisher cannon does what now?" or " thats just 2 normal leman russ barrels stuck on the end of each other!"

hey if someones gonna go and get angry when you proxy then they don't really understand that you might not have enough money to buy the real thing or you might not have what you need yet.
like i would let you proxy a battle tank as a basilisk but only because they take up the same space basically.
but seriously overegsagerating a little!
