Default Super-heavy tanks... Which to take?

For my next IG army I'm planning on adding some items from Forge World. I've peeked inside the Imperial Armour vol.1 and I've decided what to add. A Super-heavy tank. Now some people may regard me as crazy willing to pay 150 pounds for a lump of resin, but I'm obviously not planning to buy one, but to convert one from an 1:35 scale plastic model. But the big problem is... I have absolutely no idea on what tank to take! I can't choose as i have no experience with such monstrosities, and they all look so darn cool...

So now i ask you people on the forum, what tank to take? And i would prefer that you motivate why i should take the Baneblade (For example) and not say "Because it OWNzORzzz" (Sorry, i just had to.).

So, i await your answer patiently.

I got IA:1 - and of the superheavy there the baneblade is the only general purpose tank worth taking... the anti-super-heavy one is... well its just that: its only really good against other super-heavies

Ah, IA1... good old IA1.... :-*

The best general purpose tank, without a doubt, is the Baneblade. It offers good firepower, range, and the most weaponry of any of them. The shadowsword and Stormblade, although cool looking, are only useful against other super heavies. The Stormsword is hindered by its miniscule range, making it only useful in cityfight. Unless you play a ton of COD or cityfight (in which case it might not even be able to get through the streets!), the Banebladde is the best option.

I find the stormblade the coolest of them (but, that line of reasoning falls under the category of "OWNzzORZZ").

the baneblade is the best however. It carries more guns and it is extremely effective against all units except other SHs.

Well, I'm in the Baneblade camp too, but more so because it looks better than the others (in my opinion). It might have greater application on the tabletop with all those guns, but it can still be laid to waste by a single (really lucky) krak grenade like any of its kin.

Frankly, the only real reason to take a super-heavy tank is the 'cool' factor. I'm not saying that's a bad reason at all, I'm just saying don't plan your super-heavy on how effective it'll be on the battlefield, just build the one you think looks coolest.

Best to worst,

Baneblade => Stormblade => Shadowsword/Stormsword

The Baneblade is the best all round closely followed by the Stormblade (less guns but also cheaper), the Shadowsword and Stormsword meanwhile are very specialised vehicles and as such are best used appropriately.

A lot of times when making the decision about the which tank to take, it just kinda depends on your personal style. I tend to like the stormblade more than the baneblade, since I'm more into cityfight type campaigns. For your case, I would say the baneblade would be your best bet. But it's up to you.

Or you could do as I am and make your tank a convertible. I'm planning to make it able to swap between a Baneblade and a Shadowsword with the swapping of a few turrets and some magnetized parts. I've not figured out the exact details yet, but I'm sure it can be done seeing how they are on the same chassis.
