i think the

grendaier doctrine i.e. storm troopers is cool. Makes the army look more advanced.<br /

Butr then again the new cadia models look awsome, like a real army. I got sick of

all the random platoons of troops you could get. I reckoen that's the best way to

have a guard army - like our present day armies. If i had a guard army, it would be

traditionlist. Rocket Lauchers, grenade lauchers, heavy bolters, autocannons. No meltas,

plasma, or lascannons. Might not do as well as i could hope, but hey it would look cool!

doctrines are a good thing that 2 many ppl abuse 2 make " uber" guard,

but that's the only drawback i can see, other then the aditional points that they

eat up, wich means doctrined armies are generally smaller then their counterparts that

don't use doctrines

Like the idea, but as said very easily

abused.

You really have to ride people in casual games to do WYSIWYG if

they are using it for things like the carapice armour. Also the idea of using

doctrines was that your trying to fit a theme, not trying to exploit the system.

Unfortunatly we have way to many greeblies out there that are looking for thier big win.

I have never played IG before but my

friend (my regular opponent) uses them to great effect without spoiling the game. I

don't see what all the fuss is about.

Pretty much. It's a nice tool

to enhance the game if used properly. If not abused it makes a fluff army more

unique and helps to provide variety to the army.

Abused, it becomes a hated

thing, an annoyance where things are taken with out rhyme or reason. Drop troops

with a ton of tanks for example or using cadians or even worse catachan models and saying

they have carapice armour.

codex.
but the thing is you have to put carapace on everyone who doesnt have it... for 20pts a squad.... i use doctrines just to make them a bit more origional... but only stuff like light infantry which allow you models to infiltrate roll an additional idce and others... basically i like origionality. and now there are some things that are only available through doctrines such as abhumans which chapter approved brought out to be honest i like them gives you something different
