Default Modeling Drop Troops

Would you model your drop troops differently? Do tournaments require that you model drop troops?

I don't think it's a requirement as such because drop troops typically discard their grav chutes after landing. This doesn't stop you from getting hold of a few packs of Elysian grav chutes from Forge World though. If that's too expensive for you then I suppose you could cut the vents off a space marine backpack or something? You just need something mechanical looking to strap to their backs.

They wouldn't use traditional paracutes in 40k? If they did,you could just make backpacks for them.
Personally, I think 400 parachuting guardsmen would look cool.

so what your saying is that oven cleaner can remove paint from plastic models? and after that, you take a toothbrush to your plastic model, and the paint just comes off?

Parachutes are like so twentieth century.

I can picture the scene now...

"Right, listen in men...exactly two weeks from now the regiment will be parachuting into the Ragnorak badlands of Infurnus IV in the opening stages of operation 'Terminal velocity'. The ground is rugged and speckled with Hydrogen geysers which frequently ignite, spitting gouts of fire hundreds of feet into the air. What's more, the air itself is thick with ash, burning embers and falling debris..."
"And we're parachuting in, sir? Won't our chutes catch fire and send us plummeting to our deaths?"
"Quiet you. The Emperor protects."
