Default Brimlock + Halo Stars + IG History

I was just wondering If there was an Imperial planet/ regiment named "Brimlock", Does anyone know? The name seems familiar.

And Also what are the Halo Stars? I was flicking through my rulebook and On that galaxy map I saw the halo stars, But I cant seem to find any information on them. Are they a populated region or what?

And last but not least can anyone give me any links to some decent IG fluff areas. I'm looking for old IG info, stuff like how the Imperium is run, some History, stuff like that.

If anyone can help me it would be greatly appreciated ;D

Cheers

The Brimlock Dragoons took part in the Damoclese(?) Gulf Crusade, see the old Tau codex for some info and possible IA3.

The Halo stars are on the very edge of the Astronomican and are largley abandoned if my memeory serves.

The Imperial Guard codex's?

That's correct. The "Halo Zone" is the thin "halo" (duh) of stars that lies within our galaxy, but beyond the reach of the astronomican. However, most fluff that actually refers to this area as the halo zone only talks about the western rim, where Macharius launched his crusade in early M41.

The place is populated, both by a variety of alien races as well as non-Imperial human civilisations from the Stellar Exodus/Golden Age and the Dark Age of Technology. There's some pretty freaky stuff out here, it has to be said. Naturally, the Imperium has a real hard time travelling here without any guidance from the astronomican so can only do so at a crawl, but there are Imperial colonies out here. The most famous is Ultima Macharia, before its conquest known as Leminitus, the farthest world taken by Lord Commander Solar Macharius.

The best place to go for more information is the 2nd edition IG Codex, it has pages of information on the Macharian Crusades. Failing that, the early 3rd edition Codex and BBB are useful. Hope this helps.

You can try here for a bit of IG history.

Brimlock is much like England in World War 2.

Brimlock has a stiff upper lip when fighting and a reputation is involved, but is a little slow in the agricultural and cultural development.

Brimlock is a planet/system with a highly powerful, large and respected Imperial Guard Regiment (they make sure of it), the Brimlock Dragoons. They (as said) participated to great extent in the Damocles crusade against the Tau.
