Default Autoguns

OK, so me and a friend were playing a game and i had recently made a veteran with an autogun. But we didn't know what the rules were, nor could we find them in any codexs' or rulebooks we had. Does anybody know what the rules are for autoguns? Are they the same as lasguns just 'fluffy'?

They function identically to lasguns in 40K. In fluff terms, they have slightly better armour penetration, but not enough of a difference for the game mechanics to differentiate.

Yes, what KJ said is correct.

An autogun can pierce your flak armour a bit more then a lasgun, but it isn't a big enough difference to give the autogun an AP rating of 6.

we have established that autoguns no longer exist as a separate weapon statline than lasguns. but...

in ye goode olde days of roguetrader and 2nd-ed the autogun was actually inferior to a lasgun in that they were both S3, with the same range. but the lasgun had a -1 save modifier (which in the now does not exist either and has been replaced by armor pen.).
if you worry about the fluff, consider the autogun as a lowtech substitute for the lasgun. if you dont worry about the fluff then why bother converting one anyways right?

Also, in Necromunda, Autoguns have a worse ammo roll (4+ as opposed to 2+ for lasguns - read the rules, you can get them free on the specialist games site).

Seeing as how the new renegade militia models from FW are equiped with autoguns, their latest rules supplement would, in all likelihood, contains the rules for autoguns. However I personally would simply use the same rules as a lasgun.

In necromunda they are also cheaper lol.

and actually a lasgun can get through more than an auto gun. just and auto gun dosn't suture a wound when it hits.

Wasn't there an incident in one of the Gaunt's Ghosts books where one of them got hit and survived, and they were saying he was lucky it was only an autogun rather than a lasgun that shot him.
