Default Armoured Companies

I was thinking of doing an elysian army but then when I realised how much it was going to cost I discarded the Idea. The same thing happened with Death Korps but then I thought, why don't I do a DK armoured company.
I have no experience in armoured company's and I wouldn't have a clue where to start. The only thing I have is the list (in CHP approved 2004). Can anyone help me with resources, what to put into my lists, and just somewhere basic to start figuring out what I'm going to do with the army?

Cheers

BTW.whats the difference between Armoured Battillions and Armoured Companies??

The difference between Armoured Battlegroup/Battalion and Armoured Company is that the AB list isn't utterly noobish.

Plainly stated, that's about it... for example, in AC you get one HQ, the Command Tank. In AB, you have no less than four HQ choices - Company Command tank, Armoured Fist Company HQ, Artillery Company Forward Observer, and the Atlas Recovery Tank.

The list also shunts Armoured Fists into the Troops slot, and additionally adds a plethora of other options: Hydra Flak Tanks, Manticores, Thunderers, Sentry Guns, Cyclops Demolition Vehicles, aircraft...

AB is harder to use, but it's much more diverse, fluffy, and rewarding.

Put your lists in the IG list section since its IG.

Also I really like the idea of a DK Armoured Company/Batallion, especially since it would keep the costs down. I don't know anything about IA1, but from what I've read about Epic (They give away the rules and such), there were a bunch of tanks improvised during the Krieg Rebellion for use on the planet. You pretty much have to take some of those if your doing a DK Armoured Batallion.

Also Armoued Company was good for the 05-06 Tournie season, Armoured batallion is never good for tournaments (right? since its forge world?). AC will probably be re-approved for the 06-07 season though. If you want to have a chance of tournaments take AC, otherwise AB

AC lists and tank codex can be found on the GW IG page.

I don't know where the Armored Battalion list is, and if anyone could point it out, I would be most appreciative.

As mentioned, it's in Imperial Armour Volume 1... it's an incredible book.

Basic layout of each entry (Using the venerable Russ for an example)

Page 1: Picture & Blurb about
Page 2: Profile shot and techspecs
Pages 3 & 4: Pictures of various colour schemes and descriptions
Pages 5 & 6: Company formation
Pages 7 & 8: Pictures with captions (all of these are done to make them look like real battlefield photos)
Pages 9 - 13: Combat formations and deployment
Page 14: Misc. fluff and/or detailed cross sections
Page 15: Rules

It's a freaking tome of knowledge.

Actually, Krieg doesn't really use those tanks anymore. They were made for smashing through trenches and whatnot, not for being able to actually move around the battlefield quickly. Krieg uses normal russes and the like, while Siege regiments like Baran use the Ragnarok and ilk.

But seriously, a Guardsman, I'm willing to bet, could a) outshoot me, b) give me the beating of my life, and c) shove more squad-based tactics down my throat than I'd ever care to digest. Guard are hard, hard men. Whether or not GW's inconsistent, Marine-worshipping fluff keeps with that, mkay?

Real men fight in tanks!
