Default Smart or Not?

I am tinkering a new IG airborne company, and was planning on getting a Valkyrie, and some drop packs, but my....not always trustworthy...friend said that FW models are made of weak material, and aren't a good idea to buy. although I don't really believe him, I thought I would ask other players with more experience what to do or not. so, should I buy a Valkyrie?

Well Its true that the Forgeworld models are not built the same as the standard GW models, because they use Resin as opposed to plastic or metal, but to say that it isn't as strong would be a lie.

Resin allows for much more detail than plastic, but depending on the grade of resin that they use depends on the strength. The darker resins are stronger, the lighter resins tend to be weaker - but no matter what material they are made of the model will only be as strong as you make it.

Pin your model together if you feel that it could break, and just treat it with a little more care than your average plastic kit. It will only break if you drop it from a high height onto a hard surface, same as any model - although you need to take extra care with the "thin" bits (like antenna etc) because they will be weaker - but like i said pin it if you think that it will break!

As to whether or not you should get one....go for it! - its a cool model and fits the theme of the army really well.

Ok, thanks. I was also advised to go for Flamers and Meltagunners. which sounds sexy. also, since my local 40k selling store is short 1 IG codex at the moment, how many Kasrkins can you have per squad?

*Hisses*

They're only Kasrkin if you're a Cadian player - otherwise, they're Imperial Guard Storm Troopers. Melta, Plasma, and Flamers work best in Drop Troop armies; hit the ground gunning.

I don't think that we're supposed to say that.... but if one were to go onto the GW site and look at the Kasrkin boxed sets.. those should tell you how many you can have (or at least somewhere close).

I prefer smaller squads with both assault weapons if i'm going to drop troop them, and larger squads with a tough sarge if they are going to infiltrate.

If you drop an entire army with lots of small squads filled with plasma guns that can be really nasty as well
