Default What do you think Gue'Vesa'La doctrines would be?

I don't play guard but I was wondering what doctrines they would have if they were help the tau. I was wondering because my brother is starting guard and he was thinking about a tau guard army. Please help.
P.s. I would use (so faithful in the greater good they r allowed to make their heavy weapons but no tanks):
Carapace
Sharp Shooters
Conscript
Heavy Weapons
Independent Commissar (Shas'ui >) or cameleoline (advanced tau technology)

What do you think they should have?

Doctrine's I'd use for fluff...
- Carapace
- Close Order Drill
- Light Infantry
- Veteran squads

A gue'vesa force would be retrained to Tau standards, refitted with better armor, and without most tanks. They would tend to be veterens of a campain left behind who chose life over meaningless death for the Corpse Emperor.

Light inf.
Chameoline
Sharpshooters

They go in, pin down the enemy, and wait for the Greater Good.

You could make some really cool conversions as far as making Imperial troops and vehicles more Tau-like.

I'm sure that this topic has come up before, but I can't find the original thread where we were discussing it.

Anyway. A vanilla IG force, without any doctrines, represents gue'vesa perfectly well. You just have to avoid certain choices like priests, commissars and probably psykers. In some cases you may be able to justify them (like a shas'ui having the same effect as a commissar?), but try to model them appropriately. Similarly, any stormtroopers would have to be highly-trained members of the force (like grenadiers) rather than 'real' stormtroopers seconded from the Schola Progenium.

If you want to use doctrines, drop troops and mechanised both fit in well with Tau tactical philosophy. Carapace armour is a possibility if they've been issued additional equipment by the Tau, or grenadiers if it's only available to a few. Most of the other doctrines can be justified one way or another (jungle fighters who have grown up with the Kroot; conscripts from the civilian population on gue'vesa worlds), but I'd steer clear of close-combat doctrines like warrior weapons, hardened fighters, etc.

Dude....is it me or there seem to be a very big interest in Tau-indoctrinated Ig?

Here's the website

http://uk.games-workshop.com/imperialguard/doctrines/2/

Here there is the perfect example for your army. Heavy weapons, carapece armour, close order drill, special weapons.....yeah the whole package. However I wil advice that you are better off without the xeno fighter upgrade.

And the fluff for each of the uprages are also there.

Since Storm Troopers are always mentioned in discussions like this, another interesting way to do a Gue'vesa army would be using the Witch Hunters/Daemonhunters list to do a pure Storm Troopers list. The Inquisitor Lord could be some kind of prototype Gue'vesa battlesuit. You'd have to leave out loads of stuff from the list though (Grey Knights, Battle Sisters, Assassins etc.), but you could always attach Imperial Guard units to give yourself some more heavy support.

BTW crisis_vyper, those GW sanctioned doctrines have been discussed. And they suck, both fluff and game wise. Close Order Drill? Come on.

As stated, I would choose Undoctrinated. If these guys weren't important enough to be recovered by the Crusade force, they can't have been that special to begin with. :
