Default The Mortar- a friend for us in cityfight

So I just got the CoD codex, and while reading the stratagems a thought occured to me:

How about using the fuel depot stratagem with mortars?

Is this a loophole in the rules or just an idea? Because in my mortar support squad, 3 S5 blast markers will wreak a world of pain for my common enemies- as in Eldar or orks.

Combined with Plunging Fire, I could wipe out those pesky howling banshees in one fell swoop. >

Anyways, I just wanted you guys to decide if that's legal. (Storyline wise, I could just see the mortar guys dipping their shells in promethium, or adding promethium to the explosive mix, making napalm bombs, etc. etc.)

Thats what it's there for...

Also helps with my catachans as they are flamer heavy and just masses of strength 5-6 gouts of flame reap havoc.

Could we get a more specific description of what it does to your weapons?

Mortars kick ass anywhere ;D

I'm not all that clear on CoD (don't have codex) but if thats true I might get it and challenge some of my unsuspecting mates to a game... (I'm evil aren't I? >)

I suspect that doesn't include blast weapons, although I'd have to see the exact wording to tell for sure. If it does... well, S10 basilisks could have applications against certain enemies; insta-killing T5 demon princes and suchlike, as well as being highly effective against vehicles.

Well, I would imagine, fluffwise, one would just use an incenidary[sp?] round. It's a round that, instead of a full load of powder or other chemical used for explosive, uses a flammable gel or liquid. Its like the bombs used over the Rhine in the '40s. They're often called firebombs. They are used mainly for their flammabilty, and not so much thier explosive potential.

In simpler terms, let's start a week-long inferno instead of a milisecond 'boom'.

I like the idea, though, I just don't have CoD.
