Default mechanised guard

im starting my gaurd army at the present, im using all steel legion figs as im not to keen on the cadian plastics ,so i though i might aswell take their proper mechanised doctrine , should i bother? is it actually worth all thoose points and chimeras? i know it would look great im getting all forge world turrets and stuff but is a mechanise army effective on the table top? any help?

Mechanised is a fun army to play, but works quite differently from normal Guard. If you've got the cash and the Chimeras, go for it.

Yes, they're fun... but unless you own IAvol1, you can't use them...
