Default Lord Solar Macharius

The greatest Guardsman who ever lived returns... with a few tweaks of my own to ensure his greatness.

Any Pure Imperial Guard Army of 2,000pts or more may include Solar Macharius.
Equipment: Master-Crafted Bolt Pistol, Master-Crafted Power Weapon (his staff), Armour of Macharius, Helm of Macharius.
SPECIAL RULES:
Master Tactician: Gifted with the greatest military mind of his time, few can rival Macharius on the field. To represent this, the following rules apply:
An army led by Macharius may redeploy one unit, after Infiltrators have moved but before rolling for who gets the first turn. The unit redeployed must both start and end in the Guard deployment zone.
In addition, Infiltrators may never set up within 18" of an army led by Macharius.
Independent Character: Macharius is an Independent Character.
Armour of Macharius: The Armour of Macharius is one of the finest suits of armour ever made. It grant Macharius a 4+ Armour Save. He also counts as having a Medallion Crimson.
Helm of Macharius: Containing a powerful force field, capable of repelling even the deadliest of attacks. It grants Macharius a 3+ Invulnerable Save.
War Wounds: Macharius suffered many injuries during his campaign, and many never truly healed. As such, his Ws and I are randomly determined at the start of the game. Roll D3+2 for each stat. The roll is made after Infiltrators have deployed, but before the first turn.

Wouldn't 3+ Regular and 4+ Invulnerable save make more sense?

Perhaps.... but Macharius' helm gave him a 3+ Invulnerable, and he wore Carapace Armour. I see no need to change that.

Besides, how many people get a 3+ Invulnerable? Not even Inquisitor Lord Torquemada gets that! It just shows how important Macharius was.

Too True... He should also get the ability to call down orbital lances and the like as an additional troop choice. If Macharius is showing up, He's going to bring god with him.

Orbital Strikes aren't really that great in 40K... besides, I doubt they'd risk firing Lances or Macro-Cannon that close to the greatest officer in the Imperium.

Maybe something else then, like 'Able to take Baneblades'... this IS the greatest officer in the Imperium, he's going to take firepower.

And 2K+ Guard doesn't have firepower?

Much of the greatness of Macharius cannot be represented in 40K. He commanded vast armies, and a mighty battlefleet... but neither of these assets can be shown properly on 40K scale.

his armies where veterans and crusaders, conquerors of hundreds of planets. make all guard infantry hardened veterans(without the 3 special weapon option) and give him free orbital strikes.

And then this starts to become like trying to put the Emperor into a game. The true 0wnage of Macharius doesn't fit into even a 5,000 pt game.
I would say leave him for BFG, or Epic. Army bonuses should only come into those two games.
