Default Conscripts w/carpase,warrior weapons and close order.

Ok now i'm just currious how well of a combat troop conscripts would work

4+ save
2 standard attacks
I4

Now on the charge thats a hell of alot of attacks coming from gaurdsmen, for a really decent price.

8 points a model

Now obviously it wont be bringing down a wraithlord in cc but imo if u let a wraithlord get close enough for cc you arent a very good player.

I was debating these guys as a counter assault force for 240 points u get 30 of em which can really break back your opponent.

Lets figure this vs marines 5+ hits 5+ wounds 9.9 wounds ..........ok i'll be the 1st to admit it sucks vs marines. You'd be lucky to cause 4 wounds mathmatically but this also means the luck factor can come in and you could kill 15 marines.

But in return Those same marines will hit ona 3+ and wound ona 3+ so figure 10 marines make it into assault untouched by your guns. so 12 attacks including the sgt means 2.6 wounds in return by those marines. (this isnt including a powerwep)

Just another alternative. But it doesnt seem all that bad in theory
aside from the idea of buying 30 gaurdsmen and moving them into combat which isnt exactly the most fun. But it would work.

Actually they would hit on 5+ i beleive... not sure.
WS 2 v. WS 4

Also... if you go figure, normal guardsmen average 6 points a model.

But interesting...

It is 4+, to be 5+ you have to be double +1 so WS 2 vs WS 5, WS 3 vs WS 7 etc

yah sure but 6 points a model means more bodies to fit into combat.

And squeezing in those extra 10 men is a pain but yes you almost get the same ammount of attacks it really depends on you charging that makes or breaks the difference.

Its all about the carpase armor tho it makes gaurd the way i like, 50% shielded from enemy troop weapons.

Just did the maths and it isn't worth it.
Assume that an equal ammount of points of each type.
In the attack you get a loss in kills against marines of 20%. You get 25% fewer casualties as well. So he kills 1.5 times as many points and you kill 20% fewer points.

In defence you kill 6% fewer enemies, and you lose 25% fewer losses.
That means that you lose 1.5 times as many points and kill 0.94 times as many points.

Unfortunately, adding 2 doctrines to each unit you double the number of points that they cost. Your increase in affectveness just can't match this
