Default gaurd combat patrol

Im entering a combat patrol tournament. Having never played my gaurd before I think this would be a good way to get me started. Seeing as they have been on my table for the last 2 years Its about time.
Here's the list im thinking of.

Junior Officer
Las Pistol Chainsword
4 Gaurdsmen
Missile Launcher Lasguns

Veteran Squad
Veteran Serg
Lasgun
4 Veterans
Missile Launcher Lasguns

Infantry Squad
Serg
Las Pistol Chainsword
9 Gaurdsmen
Autocannon Lasguns

Infantry Squad
Serg
Las Pistol Chainsword
9 Gaurdsmen
Autocannon Lasguns

Sentinal
Autocannon

Heavy support team
6 Gaurdsmen
3 Heavy Bolters.

That comes to the grand total of 395pts
I didnt take doc's cos the squads would cost to much.

Not bad. It's nice to see a doctrineless guard force for once.

Recommendations: Lose the veterans. A handful of them won't really do much good and much of their strength lies in their weapon options, which you really haven't taken much advantage of.

If this is exactly what you decide to take... spend that last 5pts on giving the sentinel extra armour.

Over all looks solid, alot of models.

My only problem is with the Vet squads... as Kasrkin said.

Perhaps drop them and get more sentinels or troops. Or if you keep the Veterans change the missile launcher for a melta gun or plasma gun.

right drop the vets and get another sentinal with auto cannon and extra armour
10pts to play with and i'll give my officer's gaurds a meltagun. 400pts

I've re-arranged your army list to make it a little more read-able.
You have an Illegal list, as you can't take the heavy bolter supprt team as you have no HQ to attach it to. You would need at least another JO to field this unit. Why not drop these and the vets and add in a few more squads to your platoon and arm them with a special weapon only so that they can move around the board engaging the enemy.

Don't forget this is just a combat patrol. A lot more leeway is given with regards to organisational restrictions like this.

Thats true, but only when it comes to HQ choices, in that you don't have to have one and theres no FOC. To field those heavy bolters there are two options. Either a HQ choice is chosen and you field them with the heavy bolters in the Command Platoon; Or you field them as part of a Heavy Weapon Platoon, in which case you would need a JO with command squad anyway.

Just fielding the heavy bolters by themselves is the same as fielding an armoured fist squad with no chimera. Which can't be done, in a proper game or in combat patrol.

In Codex IG you need an infantry platoon to field an armoured fist squad, but I'm pretty sure the combat patrol rules allow this to be ignored. I don't see why the same shouldn't be the case here with the HQ/heavy bolter squad thing.

at 395 pts...5 pts will buy your jo a power weapon or stormbolter or carapace.

Well, if his JO's command squad has a Missile Launcher, then perhaps, he should avoid close combat?
