Default commisar question

suppose my commisar winds up alone (through some wacky act of shooting) and fails his own morale check? he doesnt have anyone to execute, does he run away or does he execute himself for cowardice in the field?

I should imagine he'd run away since even the most stalwart of Commissars will see the better part of valour and know when to give up .

If he succeeds his test...he's an independent commissar! :P

Afraid not.

Commissars are not Independent Characters unless you purchase the Doctrine to make them so.

As such, if you somehow wind up in the (very unlikely) situation that the Commissar is all alone, he counts as a "last man standing" model... albeit with amazing Leadership.

Commissars do not commit suicide if they fall back.

To get a commissar into a unit of conscripts, you'd need the "Independent Commissar" doctrine first-right?

Well, that's what I ment, if his conscripts died. He's free!

However, if he's an Independent Commissar, he is free to leave at any time... whereas a normal Commissar is not.

ah ok i was just checking. one fo the guys at the gw place said he kills himself. was thinking about fielding a commisar so thought id be good to know. i hear taking an independent commisar is not good, as he can then be picked out in CC. i was thinkging of fielding mine with a powerfist and carapace, if i dont use the carapace doctrine.
