Default New Guard

I'm starting a new Guard army, in addition to the one I already have, but I want it to be a PDF type Guard.
My fluff right now is that they are ship based over a planet, so no tanks(well, maybe a Chimera for the Command). They're gonna have German based(ish) background and names. The planet they are posted above is called Relix, and there are 6 planets in the system(Relix being the 3rd).
Tomorrow, I'm going to post 3 pics, 3 different color schemes for the army, and then I'll take the more popular. Keep in mind, I am NOT the best painter in the world.
List will probably revolve around Heavy Weaps, and obviously platoons. The doctrines I was thinking of were:
Close Order Drill: Good for fighting aboard ships.
Heavy Weaps Teams
Stormtroopers?
Sharpshooters: Always good to have.
Carapace: Maybe.

Questions, comments, suggestions?

Interesting... I like the over all concept.

However your doctrines.
Perhaps
Sharp shooters:You seem to want this so i'll not disagree.
COD:I agree with the whole ship fighting thing.
Heavy weapons teams:Every army needs it's heavy weps.
Drop troops: Being aboard a ship and all. It might be an idea to look into how you could put this into your game plans and it would make for a fluffy addition.
???: Maybe a xenos fighters here... if you fight eldar, nids or orks alot.

besides COD, iron discipline is an excellent choice. fairly easy to justify with fluff too.

Spellcheck is your friend...

General_Dakari: Sounds pretty good, think about these for your doctrines:

1. Sharpshooters.
2. Drop Troops.
3. HW Platoons.
4. COD.
5. Iron Discipline.

If you do take these, bulk out on cheap infantry, and add some Sentinels, the list would be very hard to beat.

PDF are Undoctrinated, unless they're recruited from a world like Cadia.

Remember, PDF means "Planetary Defence Force", they are the troops who, put simply, aren't good enough to be proper Guard.

not necessarily. imperial guard are just the best 10% of a planet's forces, that doesn't mean the rest are crap. alot of PDFs are crap but the idea many people have of them being conscripts is just stupid. also, they would recieve the same training, meaning a planet with lots of industrialization will have mechanized PDF's. deathworlds will ahve jungle fighters PDF. violent worlds will have hardened fighters PDF etc.

I didn't say they are crap, I said they aren't good enough to be proper Guard.

For example, a PDF soldier on Cadia is, in all likelihood, a better shot than the Guard recruited from Roane, or Upsilon, or Fortis Binary... the point is that he isn't "Cadian Shock Trooper" good.

meaning that the cadian PDF is better than some imperial guardsmen, meaning he is good enough to be imperial guard. jsut not as good as the 10% that did get into the guard. and either way that doesn't explain why you claim PDF to be undoctrinated.
