Make your own. Most people use Plastic Cadians. These are cheap, look good, but are lousy to convert (Catachans are better for that, but don't look as good).

Metal armies are far more expensive (seriously! You're looking at £60-£100 per platoon!), but look more unique. If money isn't a major limitation, then I suggest Mordians, Steel Legion, Tanith, or the Metal Cadians.

My views on Doctrines are simple: Don't. The Codex is more than enough without them, and unlike the Marine Traits, Doctrines are normally a waste of time and points.

If you insist on using them, see Tactica Imperium for a guide on which to pick.

Oh... and Plastic Cadians do not represent Carapace armour or Light Infantry (definately not light infantry!), so unless you're using Catachans, Stormtrooper models, or doing some serious converting, do not use those doctrines.

Thanks Wargamer!

I was thinking along the lines of an urban regiment raised in a city called Metronordis IV. They are a basic army using the Cadians as their models and specialise in close street to street fighting.

Is this a good idea?

Sounds good.

If you want cityfighters, I'd suggest lots of flamers (trust me, Flamers in cityfight are deadly!), and the Demolisher as your main tank (it's Siege Armour special rule makes it far better than the normal Russ in siege).

Conscripts are another good choice, mainly because everyone within 6" of a combat can use their full number of attacks, including any special attacks like Power Fists. A squad of 50 Conscripts can a stupid amount of attacks on the charge (100 attacks will kill almost anything!).

Yes, Hellhounds are nasty in Cityfight as well.

Why don't you post up your list?

Well, please feel free to write up some fluff for your regiment, and post it in the fluff/fiction board and either me or Wargamer will try to help you improve it as well as pointing out any obvious holes in it's background. But as far as IG army lists go, I'd listen to Wargamer, he seems thinks knows what he's doing.
