Default Tallarns!

I'm surprised no-one has mentioned this yet... and I don't even live in the UK.

First off, a link:
http://uk.games-workshop.com/imperialguard/tallarns/1/
You can now go oggle at the truly beatiful models and boxed sets! Infantry squad w/ plasma gun and missile launcher!

Anyway, I just think they're awesome. Comments?

Wow... I'm genuinely impressed with what Forgeworld have done with these guys (not the Star-Wars mounts, but the rest). It's good to see the Desert Raiders up and about once more!

Thanks for the link, Colonel.

The new ForgeWorld models are lovely, but still not as good as the old metal ones (the exception being those horrible old-style Heavy Weapons Teams :P)
Bring on the Guard !

whats odd is now tallaran have a squad box set, and i can't find the steel legion box set. i think GW is only allowed to have one non-plastic squad box.

What, the Steel Legion are gone?

...now that's weird; there is no model-list in the Steel Legion entry of the Guard section, but Cadians, Catachans and Tallarn all have model-listings!

Seems Armageddon has fallen out of favour...

I have always loved the Tallarn figures look but those ones look like the same ones that have been out since when I used to play.

I do have a gripe though: all of the old plasma weapons look like the guy is brandishing some silly metal fish, and that heavy bolter looks like a guy riding a big-wheel. Still, I am happy to see that they are still alive and available. the old heavy weapon teams i dont like except for the missile launcher, which hasnt really changed.

there is a 2-page picture in the old 'codex imperialis' book from a while back with a regiment that had a bunch of squads from different worlds in the same company, like a squad of tallarn, some phalanx old lasguard squads, ratlings on the cliff behind them, a squad of ogryns, a squad of penal troops, a squad of catachans and squats all mustered up for review by some officer or commissar man like they were part of one big mishmash unit assembled from many worlds and posing for a group photograph.

is this still a feasable way of assembling an army given background materiel or has the fiction changed the idea of mixed regiments so that this is no more a believable army? it would be nice because then we could get a few of those tallarn and just tuck a squad in here and there and not have to make a whole new army.

Nope, it's still a viable force... you just can't use Doctrines (as it represents a "normal" guard force, not an uber-specialist formation).
