Ok i havent herd much about the Catachan codex and gw removed the catachan models from thier site and sly marbro isnt there so is catachan codex still useable or was it phased out by the new Ig dex?

Since catachan are in the new ig dex with doctrines doesnt that kind of replace the codex and since thier is nothing in chapter approved for the catachan codex WTF bam poof bye bye codex.

Ne ways i wana know if its still legal to use catachan codex in tourneys and $l-lit
So if anyone can tell me that would b great.

As far as I know, the Catachan Codex can still be used to field a "pure" Catachan army. However, you may no longer mix the Guard and Catachan codices.

I agree with wargamer here im sure that GW have said that you can use the catachan dex as a pure catachan list.

To feild catachan as a deathworld army you need there dex

but to feild them as normal guard you pay for there skills (jungle fighters) which are in the IG dex so you dont need it there!!

lucky i got it when i did (two weeks before it was taken off shelves)

also the profiles for IG snipers arnt in there thats another reason i got the catachan dex

I assume you mean for 40K? Right; the first thing is, you could still use it, it does still work - HOWEVER - the FAQ on our Chapter Approved part of the GW website has details on how the new rules have affected the Imperial Guard Codex. The new IG codex is the best way to make up a Catachan army, as it includes all the relevant rules, skills, equipment and traits that you would need.
So, in short, the Catachan book is old, and the IG book has a FAQ update, but they are both valid as there won't be a rewrite any time soon.

so i supose they want people to start using catachans from ig codex with doctrines fairly soon but the catachan codex is still legal for deathworld stuff

but if you use the IG dex you have to pay for their skills and you cant use marbo or straken as they must be part of a deathworld army

marbo is good but not that good.

and 9 pts for a man thats basically the same as just upgrading a unit

say 50 pts a unit compares to 90 pts i can just buy upgrades.

think the biggest loss is the ambushes.. they don't cover them in the IG ocdex do they? if they do not very well....
