Default basic IG question about setup.

Ok so I need to induct a platoon or 2 to support my sisters. Now I only have a few questions, so shouldn't be hard for you guys to awnser em

-Im pretty sure about this one, but it's 60 points a squad right?
-In each squad you can have 4 or 5 Heavy weapon platforms?

From that I believe I can get my list going. Maybe even post how I want to structure them so you may fix what i overdo.

Any help would be nice

It's how many points you said a squad plus the cost of heavy weapons. In each squad you can only have one heavy weapon team and one special weapon.

I don't think that you're allowed to post point costs here....

But seriously, a Guardsman, I'm willing to bet, could a) outshoot me, b) give me the beating of my life, and c) shove more squad-based tactics down my throat than I'd ever care to digest. Guard are hard, hard men. Whether or not GW's inconsistent, Marine-worshipping fluff keeps with that, mkay?

Real men fight in tanks!

Read your codex, the answers are right there and if you are inducting multiple platoons of Guard you really aren't playing sisters in my opinion since 2 platoons of guard are 50 models minimum and usually that will be more then your sisters.

2 platoons is 48 models, minimum if that's what you mean.

And that is a lot to induct... but, you won't be running of meat-shields.

It dosen't have to be 50 models a platoon. You can have 2-5 squads per platoon. Or so my codex says.

Thanks for the input, all I needed to know. I don't need the point calues per say, just that info.
Oh and about not playing real sisters, really we hanve little or no reliable long range other than the exorcist, so I really think inducting guard is a good idea.

"I want to induct a couple platoons of IG"

1 platoon= command squad + min 2 squads =25 guardsman

therefore 2 platoons of guard = 50 troops minimum. Unless I am missing something on how you can get less in that in 2 platoons

Yes, minimum of 50, maximum of 80.
Sanders probably forgot the JOs.

What do you mean sisters don't have long range? My sister plays S.O.B. and uses retributors with Heavy Bolters, Immolators, Exorcists. Inquisitors can take a land raider, storm troopers can take Chimeras which have multi-laser, HB's and if you use IA autocannons, Inquisitor gun retinue can take HB's and a plasma cannon. Plenty of long range stuff in a witchhunter army before inducting Guard. IMHO

maximum of 110 actually. 5 squads+command squad=55. 55x2=110

heavy bolters are hardly long range at 36", so that rules the immolater out. same thing with multi-lasers leaving chimeras in the dust, and plasma cannons are only 36". not to mention none of those weapons are AT. meaning the only long ranged AT weapons he has are the rarely seen auto-cannon, which only takes down low AV vehicles anyways, and the obscenely expensive exorsist. and while yes, landraiders do have long range AT weapons, they are too expenisve to use as a tank buster.

SoB do lac long range weaponry, meaning they ahve to get very upclose and personal, especially if the enemy brings alot of armour. if a normal SoB squad could take lascannons or if they had the option for razorbacks then they'd be amazing. heck throw in heavy bolters for basic sister squads and ill colect them!

I don't know Elessar, on a 48" board I consider 36" long range, 24" mid range and 12" short range. But I guess we have different ideas of what long range is, something that shoots across 3/4 the board works for me
