personnaly i would get rid of the refractor fields and melta bombs. very expenisve, which means your guys'll be shot at first thing, and your command squad and stormtrooper squads aver very expensive. you dont want to lose them. but if you want let the SO and STs keep them, but definetly take them off the platoon commanders. also take of the pintle heavy stubbers. pintle weapons are very expenisve, so i dont recommend putting them on anything but a dedicated horde shooter. so nothing with ordanance.

use the freed up points to buy more infantry, your short on numbers.

No trust me they will not be shot at when there are 4 other tanks they would rather concentrate their fire on the tanks they are more expensive so when they get in to the other deployment zone for recon and clense and seek and destory lots of other things. And when they do shoot them its usualy too late in the game to do anything.

sure, every lascannon in the field will be targetting your tanks. leaving 30+ bolters nothing to do but let rip at your commandsquads. every heavy bolter SM squad, firewarrior squad, SoB squad, heavy bolter guard squad, heavy botler CMS, splinter cannon darkeldar squad, big shoota shoota boys squad and kroot squad will be opening up on your command squad.

Let me give you a heads up on my guard strategy, sit back and shoot which would mean that no bolters could shot at me from the start of the game and when they advance i would have my shots on them first and that's only if they have escaped the Hellhound and the Leman Russ Battle Tank or the Basilisk or the Demolisher. The point oft them all is to work with each other to destroy the most dangerous target's at the time making them very usefull. Of course if it is recon then l will just drive my tanks up and score like that. My command squads are nothing to be looking at if you want to concentrate fire look for the Storm Troopersthats where the real danger is.

*sigh* ok ignore me. if you think you'll be able to out range the enemies heavy bolters all game long go ahead and try, tell me how it goes.

I'm not ignoring you I'm just telling you my strategy and how very little i lose (2 out of 20 games) speaks for its self. I will outrange enemy heavy bolters with a 240 inch range Basilisk or a 72 inch range on my Leman Russ Battle Tank both wounding on a 2+ and killing outright and pining with the Basilisk with a minus 1 to leadership for ordnance. and 48 inch Lascannons when would guard ever not outrange marines?

What on earth are you talking about? the minimum range is 36" not 54".
