How long does it take you to prep/glue/prime/paint an individual model? Would you say 2 hours per model for a quick, table playable unit (average)? For 70 units that is roughly 140 hours. That is 5.8 days.

Everything depends on how you want your army to look.
Use your time, and the results will be thereafter. I personally use about 1,5-2 hours per guardsman. Minimum a model a day ^^ |

I can do a platoon a day... assuming I have the patience (which I do not).

Not really... it takes an hour at most to paint ten minis (paint all the parts of 25-35 models one colour, then do the next colour, then the next... repeat until done. The models dry whilst you work on another). Building is quick and easy too.

I used to paint far more than this when I was blessed with a job that required doing very little of anything for many many hours of a day (in 17hr shifts)...and so I painted entire armies to keep myself busy. 20 minutes painting, patrol, paint another colour, patrol, do some details on this, patrol, fiddle with that...patrol. Over and over and over...6 days per week.
God I miss that job

I'm on GMT.
The reason I don't paint is, frankly, because I'm lazy. If I really wanted to, I could finish off my Guard and Marine armies tonight... but I don't enjoy painting much, so I don't.
