Default Q about Inferno Cannon

When you place the Flame Template, does it have to be straight along the axis of the shot? Or can it be :sideways: so to speak?

I normally try to keep the alignment believable as a courtesy, but by the word of the rules, just keep that template in range.

I think you can justify the template being layed in a curve by the gunner arcing the flame to rain down while sweeping the turret horizontally, thus, blanketing a large area purpendicular to theline of fire.

The exact quote of the explanation (from one of our members) was that the crew were doing a "trick shot"

Announcer: He's bouncing it off the wall, right into the forest! This is unpresidented, lets see how the judges score this...

10 dead Fire Warriors people! This is amazing! Omy god (!), they are falling back... INTO THE FLAMING LAVA! I've never seen it before! Amazing!

I believe that the Codex says that you have to place it so that it covers as many models as possible, so long as the whole of the template is in range.

Indeed it does. I believe this was covered in a FAQ as well...

It can be explained though...

Let us take a Template...

__---\
<==__ |
---/

+
[XX+XX]
[XX+XX]
[X (0) X]
[XXXXX]
[X*X*X]
[X*X*X]
[X*X*X]

The reason the template lands as shown is the Hellhound aims for the left, then swings across to hose the right area. The area to the left is a "drip", if you like, a remnant hit from the turret arcing for the correct target.

no matter how you put it wargamer, it doesnt make sense. the shap of the template doesn't suit the firing of the hell hound, i dont see why one end would be thick and then it would get thinner. the only explanation would be the hellhound running out of fuel half, way through the burst. if they use a hosing technique the template would ahve to be a thick curved line, like an upside down smile.

ffffffffffffff
ffffff ffffff
ffffff ffffff
fffff ffffff

+
[XX+XX]
[XX+XX]
[X (0) X]
[XXXXX]
[X*X*X]
[X*X*X]
[X*X*X]

sorta like that

P.S. drawing these things takes ages
