Default Imperial guard worlds

Decided to work on my imperial guard army but i want them to be unique. So not cadian shock troops catachan jungle fighters etc. Since there are millions of worlds in the 40k universe would it sound credible/sound right to create some fluff and unique uniforms for a new planet to base my guardsmen on without it sounding too detached from the 40k universe. Yeah i know sort of a stupid question but your opinions would help.

That is very common. Most people create their own planets for their guard. Their are many thousands of populated worlds, ad the vast majority of them produce guard armies. The spread in the codex showing all those color schemes lists lots of examples of made-up armies.

There are a number of fluff threads throughout the archives on this forum. Perhaps a few searches are in order for ideas. Did you have a more specific question? Or did you just want some general ideas/concepts that a Guard regiment probably ought to include?

Get the 3rd Edition IG Codex if you can... it lists around 50-60 Regiments.

Yes but that won't really help him much if he wants to make his own unique regiment.

You could try come up with a name, like a creature or somthing and then translate it into italian or latin or something. that might work for you, then from the regimen name you can come up with a planet name. it also gives you a theme for your IC's and sergeants.

I'd agrue it would... it gives him ideas on what to try out, and what's already been done.

well i have a wierd background, my regiment hails from Cygnar, a Gas giant with giant linked terraspheres...

i suggest using one of the regiments listed, then make up fluff, as it can be really hard to make a name from scratch (anyone from who plays Warmachine would know my name, i think i shall change it to Khador)

Don't agree there... I've done it plenty of times. I've lost track of how many regiments I've invented. The easiest way is to steal a name from an obscure source (eg: "Puxi" or "Evad").
