If I remember corectly it goes like this..

* choose a target squad, place small blastmarker with the hole centerd over one model.
*check that you are within range of the mortars. Note you do not need to have line of sight.
*roll scatter dice.. if it's a hit.. it's a hit, otherwise it scatters D6 inches in the direction shown.
*all models entirely under the blastmarker are hit, models partially under the blastmarker are hit on a dice roll of 4+

So you are in middle of battle, have no rulebook around, no-one to borrow it from, but still access to internet?

Bad game planning I think.

for copywrite reasons i wont quote the book, but multiple barages i'm pretty sure work something like this:
roll scatter for 1 template, then place the other 2 touching the first as you choose. this is why mortar teams are much more effective than individual mortars. you can template your way up to the target even if you scatter far away.

Thanks man, thats how we figured it would work, but for the sake of moving the game on we changed the mortar team for something else. Thanks though ;D

I'm curious as to why you've got the figures for a battle and no rulebook, but I don't suppose the answer is nearly as entertaining as I imagine.

When your battle is done, go read the entry supplied above. Squigs isn't entirely correct, but it's fine in a pinch, I reckon.

Perhaps you could even photocopy that particular page, just for your own reference in the future. Keep copies of the relevant rules in the bottom of your figure case, rather like a condom in your wallet, for those spontaneous moments.
