I was flicking through the ol' mail order cataloge about a week ago and I saw the old praetorian guard models. I have always wanted to do an army of them but not being made out of gold I had to think again, now however circumstances have changed (i've mastered alchemy see?) and I have decided to do them so without futher adue here is my 1500 point guard army.
Doctrines: close order drill (for the fluff only, I don't really plan to be fielding them all touching) Heroic senior officer, master vox caster, medic anti tank squad, 3 lascannons anti tank squad, 3 lascannons anti infantry squad, 3 heavy bolters anti infantry squad, 3 heavy bolters Junior officer, 2 plasma guns, medic, vox caster, chimera, multi laser, heavy bolter, extra armour, smoke launchers Infantry squad, heavy bolter, vox caster Infantry squad, heavy bolter, vox caster Junior officer, 2 plasma guns, medic, vox caster Infantry squad, las cannon, vox caster Infantry squad, las cannon, vox caster Demolisher, 3 heavy bolters, extra armour, smoke launcher Battle tank, 3 heavy bolters, extra armour, smoke launcher Vindicator, extra armour, smoke launchers About 4 points under 1500 I really have no idea when it comes to guard, or 40k when it comes to that matter, so this army could suck and blow harder than a dyson or be a power fest I really have no idea, the only thing that matters is that I have tanks!

Vindicator is a space marine tank.
You don't need smke for youre tanks. If you use smoke you can not fire any other weapons that round and you want to fire at all times, right? Otherwise it looks good.

seems like a very well made SIGAFH.
i would however get rid of the anti-tank squads and give the infantry squads the lascannons. that way you ahve 9 models as meatshields before your lascannon goes. then merge your two platoons into one, to get rid of the JO squad. transfer that Jo into a heavy weapons platoon to field all those extra heavy weapons you ahve now(these platoons work great as a static wall of heavy bolter fire) i would then suggest either stealing the chimera off the JO squad or getting another one to make one of your squads an armoured fist. this will give you your second troop choice and give your army more mobility as it seems a bit static(infantry wise) also one thing, imperial guard dont get vindicators. their space marine tanks. we get demolishers, much better. and lastly, may i suggest a commissar for your HSO squad. since it will be the hub of all your leadership tests the extra Ld will be great. for your last 4 points jsut give all the officers bolters. thats what i do when i have a few points left. P.S. i would keep the smoke launchers pontus

The smoke launchers were there for that turn 6 dah into the open to claim the quater/objective etc.. And it should be a basalisk, I guess I have SM on the brain...
