Default Field Command [IG board announcement thread].

For those who aren't aware, I'm back in charge of this field. You all know me, so I'll save you the usual introductions, and give you the three golden rules:

1. Trust in the Emperor.
2. Obey all instructions given by your superiors. I suggest you refresh your memories as to what they are regularly.
3. Remember the Commissars.

The rewards for Tolerance are Tretchery and Betrayal. -Anon.

There appears to be a new wave of Thread Necromancy running through Tau Online at present... so let me make things clear. Anyone who attempts to revive a dead topic will be immediately smited. Harsher action will quickly follow.

Ignorance is no excuse. -Anon.

Da, Comrade General!

Uh, what about fluff/stories, as in, what if we have a continuing story that needs an update, but past the necro limit?

Last time I checked, it was legal, but, with the new wave of nercomancy, I wasn't sure...

Thanks

If there is a valid reason to ressurrect the topic (eg: adding to a fluff piece after a long break) then it's fine.

My Liege,

What happens if we want to start a topic on something, but it already has an old thread to it, do we dabble in the black arts or start anew?

If there is something worthwhile to add, then revive the thread.

However, it is, as always, a case of using your best judgement. If the topic is on page 2, and has been dead a month, you could probably revive it if you have something worth adding to the subject. If it's three months dead, start over.

Announcement Tertius:

Given that the Tyranid board in specific, and the forums in general, have recently had a problem with spelling, it seems clear to me that the Guard should be expected to once again show our place as the elite of the galaxy. Remember, Guardsmen, all eyes are upon you... theirs, His, and mine.

With this in mind, the following information has been prepared for your viewing pleasure by the Commissariat. Failure to read this is detrimental to the health of those whose heads are not lasproof.
  • When posting, be sure to recite the Litany of Typing whilst compiling your message, and the Litany of Posting when pressing the "Post" button. This will appease the machine-spirits of your access terminal.
  • The Officio Linguistica has for some time now made the rite of Messagio Examinorum, known as "Spell Check" in some Low-Gothic circles, available to all for many a year. If you are not already familiar with its function, consult your local Techpriest immediately.
  • Whilst there are numerous variations of Low-Gothic used throughout the Imperium, the format accepted on this forum is the version known as "English". Sub-dirivitives such as "Txt tlk", "AOLspeak" or "l33tsp34k" are not accepted.
  • Proof read. Should the Commissariat find any rule violations in your post content, you can expect immediate summary discipline. Taking a few minutes to check your own work can save you a lot of grief in the future.

Now, as all of that is pretty much covered in the forum rules, I expect you all to give me the reply "We know this already, sir!" It also means if you don't adhere to the rules, I'll come down on you twice as hard!

Isn't Guard life fun.

Thou Shalt Not. -Anon.

Thats a Rog, HQ.
Operation Spellingarus is now underway...

"i wlil bee srue ot splle god ni teh ftuure"

Are spelling mistakes punishable by smiting? As in, spell a few words wrong and its - for you? If it is, I think I'll go hang out in Gen'l 40k for a while...

The odd mistake is not a problem. It never has been, and never will be.

The problem is when you repeatedly, or even deliberately, make mistakes. For example, putting "teh" instead of "the" every single time will get you smited. Doing it once will not.

We all know this already sir.

You crack me up sometimes bud. Do you ever give out positive karma or just smites for spellung errors? Kidding kidding.

Here's a funny thought:
Commissar running himself out of breath chasing down a squad of retreating guardsmen, with a bunch of orks hot on his heels... and he is screaming and yelling "cowards! cowards! come back here and fight!" They all make it to the transport.
