Don't take grenadiers, they aren't guard infantry, and they're not stormtroopers, so they can't deepstrike. If you were deepstriking them, you messed up on the rules, oh well it happens to everyone. Second of all, please don't tell me you didn't just say 100pts. Usually, that will consist of.. *checks codex* absolutely nothing legal! You might want to invest in some more minis.

Although there are lots of people more qualified to answer this question than me, a special weapon squad with demo charges sounds good. You could also throw in real stormtroopers, and maybe a vet squad loaded up with some king of anti tank goodness. Just my thoughts.

he can still deepstrike his grenadiers since he is talking drop troops, i think anyways, dont have my codex with me. im guessing he ment to say a 1000 point army.

hey. it is difficult for us to give advice when we don't know what you are woking with... i am assuming a 1000 point army.... but there are many variations.
a couple of universal rules to keep in mind when playing any army:
watch out for charge range. if you are a shooty army, be very very afraid of them getting within 12 inches at the end of their move... if they get within 12 inches it is often a good idea to charge one of your own squads in to distract, lock up, and deny the charge bonus from a superior assault squad that is bearing down on you. (my personal choice is the Junior Officer squad that leads my infantry platoon, but conscripts are another option that many players on this site recommend).... so you have a moment to realign your fire line. the guard are one of the hardest armies to play because their stat line is so pathetic, but you have strengths: tanks, and a lot lot lot of dice rolls. extra guys with wimpy little lasguns are extra chances... and even terminators fail a save once in a while if they have to roll enough dice. The tanks are a bit more difficult... it really depends on the terrain on your playing table... i like to give them track guards because it sucks to get immobilized and give up victory points while your cannon still blasts away.
good luck

I don't think Grenadiers benefit from Drop Troops. Isn't it "Guard Infantry" only?

Just checked the Codex... it does indeed say "Guard Infantry", so Grenadiers can't Deep Strike.

that doesn't make sense, why would you provide air borne transport for your basic troops and make your elite infantry footslugg.

Presumably it's very hard to use a grav-chute when in Carapace... so only Stormtroopers are trained to do it.

But rules are rules; read them and weep.
