Default 500 pts Demolisher army

The singular purpose of this list is to bring a Leman Russ Demolisher. For those who will ask, I'm attempting to make a point to one of my friends at the hobby shop, I'd never use a list like this normally. So tell me what you think.

Command Section
Junior Officer
6 Guardsmen
2x Missile Launcher

Infantry Platoon
20 Guardsmen

Conscript Platoon
20 Conscripts

Leman Russ Demolisher
Hull-Mounted Lascannon
Sponsoon Plasma Cannons
Extra Armour

All in all it comes to exactly 500 pts. If anybody notices any errors, feel free to post on them, I just got the codex and might misunderstand a few things here and there.

How do you get an HQ with 6 guardsmen?

Don't you need one HQ and two troops?

Pontus is on the right track. Specifically, you need a separate HQ squad to function as the command squad of the army, and then another one within the platoon itself (An Infantry Platoon is an HQ squad and at least two Infantry Squads). Your Conscript group forms the second Troops choice on the force chart, so you don't need to sweat that.

Given that you need an HQ, you can still swing the Demolisher in the list, but everything but the tank will need to be pretty well stripped--no special weapons, heavy weapons, veterans, voxes, nothing.

Given that, what exactly are you trying to prove to your game store buddy?

Its a good idea, but if he takes a lascannon...

Go for it. You can include a simple HQ with simply JO and all las weapons. Simple enough [and cheap]

You can only take 4 [no more no less] in a command squad.

I thought you had to have a Command Section for each platoon, which means conscripts and normies, so 3 command squads in total...

But I am IG v.3...

You actually don't need a command squad for a conscript platoon. It's a separate entry in the codex, and the Conscript entry has absolutely no included language that would indicate the need for an HQ (as the regular Infantry Platoon entry does). It's really not a platoon as much as it's a single really big squad, even though it has the word "platoon" in it's name.

you also can't take 2 missile launchers in the command squad.

You want:

Junior officer and 4 guardsmen. (HQ choice) (40 points)

2 line squads and another JO+4 (Troops choice) (160 points)

20-man conscript platoon (80 points)

Demolisher (no idea what the points are, I can't do everything in my head, and my codex is 10,000 miles away at the moment.)

Use any leftover points to either get more conscripts or to put heavy/assault weapons in the command squads.

Ack, using this codex feels like learning a new game almost ???

Ok, I think I misunderstood the stuff.

I was trying to prove to my game store buddy that my Tau have a disadvantaged list. Nothing special. He was complaining about how they get a new codex and all that, so I figured I'd shut him up with a quick game.
