Default Delta II Catachan Recon Section. (part house rules)

Catachan Reconnasiance sections.
House Rules.

Recon sections form the basis for any patrol force and are a great asset to the arsenal of troops and units the Catachans have at their disposal. They make heavy use of Sentinels, Snipers and small sufficent and agile squads. Many missions these sections are sent they may not return from, they never know what they will face as they are the ones who find out what their main force will fight!

Special Rules
-Patrol teams are used as troops choices
-May never excede 750pts
-May never use traps
-Patrol teams, although now a troops choice, may still set-up using the 'ambush' special rules
-May only take heavy weapons in a fire support squad (Hence no heavy weapons within squads)
-May never take a Colonel as a HQ officer.

4x Dethworld Vets.- Medic w/ laspistol, 1x Flamers, 1x Grenade Launcher, 1x CC weapon and Bolt Pistol, 1x Las gun

Ahh but there is motive behind my madness...

The snipers deployed by Recon sections are literally the front line for the main group. They go ahead and will often wait days on end for their squad or an enemy to pick on.

In game terms, the 3 squads without the sniper, are ambush/assalut style teams, The HQ is the distraction and the Sentinel will soak up any anti-tank weapons for at least a turn!
Now the snipers, they form a fire base to cover the rest of the army. And if your wondering why i gave a fire based unit the honorifica. It's because that squad NEEDS to stay where i deploy/move them, they need the extra leadership and the chance of them being my last squad is increased due to the fact i'm gonna have a hard time keeping armoured units down as there are no restrictions (Termies, Lords) and that sniper the the squad is my secret weapon in a way.

As for the reason behind the snipers... I need somthing will take down a wraithlord and an Avatar. Yes one guy is taking a Wraith lord and an Avatar in 500pts!!! Now that is power gaming (but it might just work)

Plasma and melta- youre best friends fighting a Wraith Lord and an Avatar.

The list looks great; I really like the rules too!

The snipers aren't a great idea in normal squads as they will hinder movement.
With low head count and no tanks [throw on top of that 6+ armour] stationary squads just doesn't seem right.

If he is taking a Wraithlord and an Avatar, though, he won't have many guns...

It can work, but you need to strategize a lot!

Demo charge problem solved.

With the Catachan codex you get a 5+ save.

And the reason i took snipers is becuase they always wound on a 4+. And then theres the fact i dont have any more melta models :P

I already did... the snipers. See the T8 of the wraith lord and the S8 of the melta still make it a 4+ to wound. but using the melta i also need a 4+to hit. Using the sniper allows me to hit on a 2+.
