Default 114th Galetonian (several lists)

The 114th Galetonian (aka: The Iron Legion) is a powerful armoured regiment. However, the key element of this army is its recon teams, the Forward Batallion.

This is an element of this force:

Forward Batallion:

HQ:
Colonel Raijis (Salamander Command Vehicle) with Heaby Bolter, Improved Comms and Surveyer.
[100]

Elites:
Lieutenant Flare (JO) with Bolter.
Two Guardsmen with Meltaguns.
One Guardsman with Lasgun and Vox-Caster.
One Guardsman with Lasgun.
Chimera with TL Heavy Bolter (turret) and Heavy Bolter (hull), Extra Armour.
[166]

Troops:
Scout Team Alpha:
Sergeant Logan (Veteran Sgt with Lasgun).
1 Guardsman with Grenade Launcher.
1 Guardsman with Lasgun and Vox-Caster.
7 Guardsmen with Lasguns.
Chimera with Multilaser, Heavy Bolter and Extra Armour.
[169]

Scout Team Beta:
Sergeant Foster (Sergeant with Lasgun).
1 Guardsman with Plasma gun.
1 Guardsman with Lasgun and Vox-Caster.
7 Guardsmen with Lasguns.
Chimera with Multilaser, Heavy Bolter and Extra Armour.
[165]

Fast Attack:
Patrol Team Gemini:
x2 Salamander Scout Vehicles.
[200]

Patrol Team Osiris:
x2 Salamander Scout Vehicles.
[200]

Total: 1,000pts.

HQ:
Leftenant Weiss (Forward Observer) in Salamander Command Vehicle with Heavy Bolter, Surveyer and Improved Comms.
[100]

Fast Attack:
Patrol Team Pegasus:
x2 Salamander Scout Vehicles.
[200]

Heavy Support:
God-Hammer (Hydra Flak Tank).
[200]

Total = 1,500pts.

Vanguard Strike Force:

HQ:
Captain Dershe: Exterminator Wonderchild (Alpha Pattern) with x3 Heavy Bolters, Extra Armour and Improved Comms.
Notes: An experienced and skillful tank commander, Dershe's main duty is to relay information from the Forward Batallion back to HQ. However, if a fight breaks out, he is instructed to bring himself and his team into battle. The Vanguard is often used to blitzkrieg infantry positions. However, opposing armour is left for the main Company.
[205]

Elites:
Master Sergeant Guilliman: Leman Russ Exterminator Pyro (Alpha Pattern) with Heavy Bolter, x2 Heavy Flamers, Extra Armour, Track Guards, Smoke Launchers and Pintle Mounted Heavy Stubber.
Notes: Sets fire to everything flammable. Recommending psychiatric analysis after return from front-line service.
[200]

Troops:
Sergeant Brutus: Leman Russ Fortis Imperius (Gryphonne IV pattern) with Lascannon.
Notes: Transferred from the Mordian 234th. 34 Citations. A valued member of the Company.
[155]

Sergeant Mkcrane: Leman Russ Dead-head (Galaxian Pattern) with Lascannon and x2 Heavy Bolters.
Notes: Under Commissariat investigation. Recommend replacement of Dead-head for a more reliable tank crew.
[165]

Heavy Support:

Sergeant Tiller: Hydra Flak Tank Bluebird.
Notes: Engineering [I swear too much]up. Recommend using Lasguns instead, as they break down less often...
[200]

Sergeant Bayne: Griffon Mortar Deathrainer
Notes: 25 Citations. Recommend promotion ASAP.
[75]

Total = 1,000pts.

Should this be in the Army List section?

Old habits die hard I'm afraid.

The lists look good, and I'm assuming that each builds on the previous one otherwise they're not legal lists from the 2nd one on .

I'm sure this is an armoured company type army too, and I like that the last list contains a little fluff behind some of the units.

The Forward Batallion comes in two parts; the 1,000pt "core" list, and a 500pt addition.

As far as I can see, the Forward Vanguard is perfectly legal: 1 HQ, 1 Elites, 2 Troops (all compulsory), 2 Heavy Support.

Oh, and all of them are Armoured Batallion lists. That way, they're perfectly legal, and not some shoody WD botch-job.

Thought so lol. Especially since the lack of Platoons and stuff like that.

So you really like salamander scout vehicles then?

About the 1500point forward battalion:

I think its a pretty good list, and fluffy which is always nice.

It is a very quick and mobile force but it has no real means of taking out enemy armour or really heavy infantry and would be best used against hordes. Against slow hordes such as slogging orks this list would be perfect as it would be hard to catch and could pour constant anti-infantry fire.

I love the hydra it's one of the best looking things in the game and should be able to deal with anything from medium vehicles to tough infantry. It will also provide for the off chance that an opponent will take a flyer.

As you have a forward observer and it is a forward battalion(kind of an armoured scout force for armoured battalions) it would be fitting to have an artillery strike and this could also compensate for the lack of anti-armour weapons. How about a manticore strike instead of one of the 8 salamanders.
