that makes sense fluff-wise. im not denying that, but in the game your screwed. if your doing it for fluff reasons its a great list but you wont last long in a game(catachan have a tendency of dieing alot)

First, the jungle would eat those comlinks in short order. ;D

Second, he has a meltagun and demo charges (oh, and I only see one missile launcher, the other is a one-shot deal). He's short on antitank, true, but not as short as all that.

demolition scatters, making it very hard to kill enemy tanks especially since its a one-off. the melta gun would ahve to get very close to the tank, it the entire board is covered in jungle terrain your fine, but since theres no such thing, your going to have trouble getting at the tank, since onyl a noob would move his tanks into jungle terrain held by catachans(just napalm the whole thing). i just dont think you can rely on a missile launcher and a 12" blowtorch. fluff wise meltas and launchers are your best options but they wouldn't last long against my armoured comapany(or any army with tanks short of eldar). i would change the snipers for melta-boys. what i ment with they die alot is that they die alot by IG standards, these guys have casualty numbers to rival the death korps.
anyways you should ask fingolfin(can't rememebr his new name) he's a catachan fan.

OK, with the risk of sounding like a moron I will state the following:

How many tanks are we talking about in a 1k list? I recently been playing Codex Cats and all I can say is if you are planing to fight at range, then you much better off playing a standard IG army. Ambush! Ambush! A well placed ambush will not only get into combat but if you throw that melta gun in the right place you can take out a tank. Most tables will have a forrest of some trees somewhere use them. If you happen to be fighting on a desert...whelp were you really suppose to win that fight? The real concern in my opinion is if the opposition fields an assaulty dred, I don't care how buff you look in that wife-beater, you still only str. 3!

in a real battlefield this would work, but not in 40K. a battle where your opposing general is an omnicent god sort of rules out the posibility of ambush. in vietnam the north vietnames could hide in a bush and the americans would roll right into the death-trap, but in 40k you the the melta gun carrying guy is in that bush, you knows he's trying to kill your tank, no-one is going to send their troops into that terrain.

Elessar... A board can be 100% if your playing the jungle fighting rules, the peices of jungle terrain you set up count as impassible terrain if so. The rest of the board (even if clear) is counted as jungle terrain unless specified as a clear area.

Now, my main catachan list has only 3 missile launchers and a melta gun! it's 2000pts.
And the only reason i would change the snipers to melta guns is if i were facing an AC list.

Now onto the list it self.

Here i suggest taking out the master crafted storm bolter for a normal one and replacing it with eithger a special weapon or a missile launcher to make up for your suppiosed lack of anti-tank.

Sweet... i love it! make sure you place them in ambush and make use of their ability to get out of the game if nessesary to stop your opponent gaining victory points.

Looks cool, one thing i'd suggest is that considering they are an assault team is you take shotguns instead of lasguns. Only other thing that gives me the creepies is the TWO demo charges, perhaps replace one with a flamer as two gives increased chace of blowing your own squad to hell.

Very rarely do i see the platoon commander feilded in a squad. But nice set up non-the-less

Great... same as above, only thing i might suggest is take a grenade launcher instead of the flamer.

Quote:
Fire support squad:
2 deathworld veterans with lasguns operating a heavy bolter
not exactly strong on this with only one heavy weapon in the squad but try to keep it alive and you might do okay.

Bravo Platoon:

Green squad:
1 sergeant with las pistol and close combat weapon
8 deathworld veterans with lasguns
1 deathworld veteran with comm link and lasgun

Okay... i think you forgot your platoon commander here! otherwise good.

Good... i like seeing missile lauchers in a fire base section, easier to protect.

Quote:

same comments as on the last one, but i do like that you seperated them giving you a choice of seperate targets.

Quote:
Fast attack:

Sentinel Squadron
1 sentinel with heavy flamer and a hunter killer missile
-60 pts
Only one? tut-tut, if your going to use sentinels in a Catachan army it is advisory to give them smoke launchers as well... to decrease chance of being taken down before they get to roast the enemy.

Patrol Squad:
1 veteran sergeant with plasma pistol, Honrifica Imperialis and power weapon
4 Deathworld veterans with lasguns
1 Deathworld Veteran with flamer.

Love the patrol squad. interesting idea giving your Sgt here the honorifica. I might even try that one day
