Default Imperial Guard Question/ background

As most people who go on the imperial guard threads know, I am just starting an imperial guard army, and currently have no models. As I am doing a standard cadian SIGAFH, I'm sure that my army will look and run like the majority of imperial guard armies, so I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas on how I could set my army apart from other imperial guard armies.

My favorite way is just to make some cool conversions for your command units.. it adds character without sacrificing the almighty power of a SIGAFH... also if your so inclined you could use preferred weapons.

Yeah some great looking comanders and a few stormie squads that have tropies same with a comander. Also i have been replacing my metal ogryns with the new catalouge conversion ones made out of ogres. They make my army look so much more involved and unique.

Don't use plastic Cadians, simple as that. Your army will stand out a mile.

Yes. They are slightly smaller (better proportioned), and have a slightly different uniform.

and dont use the heavy metal colour schemes, if you use something other than green and khaki your army wont blend in with the rest of the cadian 8th armies.

Is there any way for you to stand out without paying a bundle on metal pieces?

How about painting my guys' uniforms metallic colors (Mithril Silver, Shining Gold). Very un-Cadianish, even though I like the Cadian models myself.
