I would put the heavy bolters in the normal Ig squad and put the las cannon and missle launchers from the nrmal squad into a heavy weapon squad.

Also the storm trooper squad shoul just have to plasma guns or two meltas.

By contrast, I fully support spreading the heavy weapon action out among your squads. At 1000 points, your numbers are what will carry the day for you. Shots on goal--that's the ticket.

I also applaud the lack of Power-stuff on your commanders. But that's just me.

Given choice, and in keeping with the idea of shots on goal, I'd swap the lascannon off your LRs for hull Heavy Bolters, and maybe use the newfound points to stick something pintle mounted on 'em, too. Then you can roll all over the board, and still roll ten or twelve shooting dice. You've got a couple of lascannon in other squads, and a few Plasma guns in there, too, so your AT punch (at this level) ain't too shabby, allowing you to use your LRs as gunships instead of tank-killers.

Your tanks are anti-infantry, and your infantry is anti-tank. This is wisdom.

I really hate having a heavy weapon squad. *Those missle launchers and lascannons are the anti tank of this army and if they are all bunched in one area they are going to run out of targets real quick or get targeted first turn and destroyed. *Also, with the melta and plasma in the ST when I infiltrate I can get close and pop a tank or target a juicy squad with a bunch of ap1 and 2 goodness. *Thanks for the suggestions though Tatum don't think I'm not considering them because I am, I am just providing a counter argument to help you see my reasons for setting up the way I did.

@ Austin I really believe you are right about the leman russes with the hull HB.. except I totally built them with the lascannon :-\ and I like to go WYSIWYG.

i would suggest putting either the HW or the SW in the infantry squads, but not both.

also medics are always a great way to spend points

WYSIWYG is very important on vehicles, I won't discount that one iota. However, the Lascannon come off the LR model almost as easily as they go on. It's easier to do it during the build phase, sure, but at this point you just need a sharp hobby knife and a steady hand. Don't try to hack it off, either. Shave and nick at it until the bulk of it is off, and then just smooth out the rectangular hole it leaves on the back cylinder. Then use any plastic Heavy Bolter (you, your friends, or an opponent somewhere has one in a bit box. I'll bet money), cut off the front half (or third, or whatever you think looks good) and tack it on. You can even do it once the model's already painted, since you're working with a single very specific area of the model. You just have to be careful, is all. ;D

It looks good. It's good to have cheap commanders in small games. I also like that you spread the lascannons out. A lascannon squad will draw more fire then a havy bolter squad. I don't like the storm troopers though.. You should go melta or plasma not both, and the the sargeant is expensive with powerweapon and plasma pistol.. should have one or the other.

Otherwise it looks great!

You could put a lascannon in a hardened vet squad as you get good acurracy and you could also get some plasmas or grenade launchas
