Default IG rules questions

These are a few questions that have arisen after my friend got his IG army.

-Are you allowed to have a single guardsman with a missile launcher?

-When using guess range weapons, do you have to estimate the range to the target, then measure the range you estimated, and put the template down there?

-Do flamers using normal armor saves or a special save, and is the hellhound an exception?

Thank you for your time.

Hmm.. the answers would be...

1) You must have an ammo carrier.. why? I don't know... honestly can't see a reason but they are 2 man temas and that is the rules.

2) Those are the old rules.. there are no more guess weapons.. except mortars I believe.. could be wrong.. 'dex isn't with me..

3) You take normal saves from a flamer... and even the infermo cannon gives saves to those allowed them..

Thank you for answering 2 of my questions, Trillan.

I believe that the basilisk and the mortar are guess range weapons.

Oh yes.. I was pretty sure about the mortars..a nd I must admit I had forgotten the basilisk. It too is a guess yes.

In those cases, you have the rules spot on. Guess, measure to guess, place template, scatter..

Yes and no.

Heavy Weapon teams require two Guardsmen: one gunner, one loader. The loader is essentially a normal Guardsmen. This means you can't have a command squad with three Meltaguns and a Lascannon, because the Loader cannot carry any other gear.

Not any more... bloody GW retards. If you want to use the weapons properly, I suggest you stick with the 3rd Edition system. It's much fairer.

Flamers ignore cover. They work as normal weapons in all other respects (eg: an AP 4 flamer ignores 4+ saves or worse).

Not to mention alot more fun - the pychological damage of guessing ranges perfectly onto enemy troop's heads is more devastating then the actual damage by far (especially when we're talking about Mortars...).

Well I'm a Warhammer player at heart... and in that you have to content not only with guessing, but guessing with weapons whose range randomly changes each time you fire! When using cannons, a guess of 12" actually ends up somewhere between 14" and 22", with a "bounce" of 0-10".

With error margins that big, you learn to aim.
