Question List help. Yay or nay.

Now, usually, I play Space Marines but only because they came with the Black Reach set. What I really wanted to play was the Imperial Guard because of, surprise surprise, Dawn of War. I'm just not so sure whether my planned list is up to scratch.
HQ
Lord Commissar
Power weapon
Carapace armor
Total 90

Company Command Squad
Colonel Straken
Medi-pack
Vox-caster
Heavy flamer
Meltagun
Carapace armor
Regimental Advisor
Chimera
Heavy flamer
Heavy stubber
Total 325

Techpriest Enginseer
Total 45

Troops
1st Platoon
Platoon Command Squad
Medi-pack
Vox-caster
Sniper rifle
Plasma gun
Total 85

Infantry Squad
Commissar
Grenade launcher
Vox-caster
Melta bombs
Mortar
Total 105

Infantry Squad
Commissar
Flamer
Vox-caster
Melta bombs
Mortar
Total 105

Heavy Weapons Team
Total 60

2nd Platoon
Platoon Command Squad
Medi-pack
Vox-caster
Plasma gun
Plasma gun
Total 95

Infantry Squad
Commissar
Grenade launcher
Vox-caster
Melta bombs
Mortar
Total 105

Infantry Squad
Commissar
Flamer
Vox-caster
Melta bombs
Mortar
Total 105

Heavy Weapons Team
Total 60

Fast Attack
Hellhound Squadron
2 Bane Wolves
2 multi-meltas
Heavy stubber
2 dozer blades
Total 320

Sorry if the format is confusing, it's easier to understand on Excel. Basically, Commissars and melta bombs everywhere, Bane Wolves for killing everything. Mortars just for kicks.

Any good?

Don't bother putting heavy weapons into squads with flamers and melta bombs, one or the other of them won't get used. Also, given how many squads you have, consider Creed instead of Straken. Otherwise looks not bad, though personally I prefer the range on a Hellhound over the poison effect on a Bane Wolf.

So, I'll replace Straken with Creed and remove all the heavy weapons in my infantry squads. How about the Lord Commissar because I planned to run him in the same unit as Straken?

Would Creed benefit from the Chimera and should I change the weapons in his squad?

The LC I'd either attach to one of the platoon commands (dropping the sniper rifle obviously), or put him in a likely looking infantry squad. I personally rarely try and get my officers into CC, so I can't really tell you the absolute best use for him.

And yeah, an extra layer of armour between your commander and incoming fire is always welcome.

I don't know what kind of game play your after, but I can see some adjustments I would personally do.

Combined squads is first on my list. By doing that you will save some points on the commisars. They will now command two units at the same time. Of course, you will still have the option to keep them seperated.

Techpriest. Whats his purpose in your army? To repair or fight?
If he is going to repair, add some servitors.

Imperial guard arn't really fit for close quarters in my oppinion, but they are not to be overseen of course.
With your HQ command I would make good use of the higher BS they come with.
Starken is a cool character, but he is just one man. The others in the unit are not as durable in combat as he is.

Commisar lord I am not to impressed with to be honest. Costs alot and ends up shooting your leaders with expensive equipment.

Thing is, looking at the points you have spent on making a close combat unit is pretty scary. And its all based around Starken basically.
For those points, Space Marines the most common army, will out gun and out do you in close combat. A unit of Vanguards for less points will make swiss cheese of your HQ close combat units. Even basic Marines with a sergeant with a power weapon of some kind will be hard to beat.
For those points spent, a SM player can get 2 fully loaded tactical units. thats 20 power armours, S4/T4.

I would run all your squads with just heavy weapons and no assault weapons, you dont want to get that close with regular guardsmen, that's the stormtroopers and veteran squads job.
Also think about combining your squads a bit so you dont need so many commissars.
For points value you cant go past a primaris psyker, hes so cheap but effective, and costs the same as the lord commissar, but comes with an awesome shooting attack and a force weapon, oh and also the mildly useful nightshroud ability (only orks and mini nids are likely to fail their ld check to see him).
