Default Me and my friend are going to start a joint IG army, here's the list

I'm getting a friend into 40k and, after asking him what sort of units he liked the look of, I createdthis army list.
Ignore the names of the units, we haven't worked any of that out yet.

[armylist]1541[/armylist]

Anyway, what do you think?

Power fists and such in your command squads aren't necessary. It looks like you're going to a shooty army so cc weapons aren't really going to make anyone give a second thought to assaulting you.

I would replace the meltagun in your command squad with a plasmagun or sniper rifle, something with a longer range. It's obvious by your vox network that you plan on utilizing the orders, so you want to keep your officers safe.

The same goes for your veterans. If you're using them for long range combat you don't want to waste your SW slots on those flamers. If you plan on deploying them forward, then don't give them heavy weapons.

I wouldn't put a lascannon on your punisher. It's an anti infantry tank, so give it AI weapons, not AT weapons. I would also put sponsoons on there. They don't cost that much for the extra weaponry.

If they want to assault me anyway then surely some form of defence is better than no defence. If not then that leaves me with 15pts to spend on I don't know what.

I swapped the meltagun for a plasmagun

Drop the flamers, get 1 extra sniper rifle (with all the kits I get I will only end up with 2 and this hobby's already expenisve)

Swapped the lascannon for heavy bolter sponsons

So, what do you think after the changes?

I am a new to the warhammer 40k, but I think you might want to look into the enclosed crew compartments for the Basilisk.

Its only 15 points and it makes the Basilisk not open-topped.

Also whats the total point cost on this?

Sorry about that, didn't realise the army list thing didn't come with the points cost.

2000pts.

Anyway, the enclosed compartment sounds like a good idea, the only problems are the price of a FW closed basilisk and I find its aesthetically better without the closed compartment. (It looks nicer).

You really don't need the closed compartment for the basilisk. There are plenty mopre dangerous things your enemy will focus on. Just keep the basilisk in the back

My only suggestion for improvment (need to find points though for it), is the Valk. Multiple Rocket Launcher will do wonders agains most infantry. The shear number of hits will take down even power armours.

If I remove the platoon standard and the colonel's power fist then I could afford it but first I'd like a second opinion if that's OK

OK, I've made some changes, it appears the changes automatically appear on the army list I have in the 1st post so you can see it there.
