I prefer your first list over the second one, but I have some C&C for it as well.
In your HQ drop the Bodyguard and get some points back. With the Carapace the squad will be fine. With the points put in a special or heavy weapons. On your Storm Troopers drop the Power Weapon and add some Special Weapons. ST's are made to Deep Strike and shoot, not assault. Other than that, I think it could work. |

I played out the first army list here, and other than a drop pod tying up my HQ unit (dreadnought walked out and kept me busy) I did fine. cover saves kept his scouts alive, and his dread was in close combat with my HQ (he was rolling bad, and only killed one at a time) I cleared the board. I still want to run the second list out, see if I can just out shoot the Marines a bit. |

I recently ran a list that had autocannons and missile launchers in troops squads (my opponent was orks), heavy weapons squads only come into there own in larger games, and infantry squad with an autocannon or missile launcher costs the same as a stock squad from the last dex, also the lascannon on the Valkyrie is a waste, give it rocket pods, as it can move 12 and fire both rocket pods and the multi laser, great horde killer, and will kill a few marines due to the amount of saves it forces.
