I've tried this once before. I'm thinking it'll be a little more successful this time 'round. My big concern at the 1000 point level is my lack of AT. However, I can hope that at the 1000 point level, they may not have much to shoot at. >.> This is a semi-themed army with the inclusion of the Inquisitor and Commissar. I've tried to make them less of a point-sink, though I might be convinced to give up the Commissar if I have to. My favorite unit in the whole of Warhammer 40k is the Independent Commissar. My original conception had the Inquisitor pegged at close to 300 points. -_-
My philosophy is somewhat (counter) assaulty. Also, no mecha. Yeah, yeah. I know. At the 1500 point level, I'll probably throw some in. Broad idea- The Inquisitor, Commissar, and the Two JO's kitted up for assault perform counter-assault / assault tasks, followed by the two platoons who are Warrior-weaponed. The shooty elements... well, shoot. The Conscripts are in there, honestly, as cannon fodder / body count. The list is pretty vanilla, a "jumping point" mostly, to gather your input. Other than any major changes to the Inquisitor, I'm open to suggestion. ![]() As far as the Doctrines, I took Drop Troops and Close-Order Drill because they were free. Not sure if they're practical. Doctrines: Independent Commissar Warrior Weapons Close Order Drill Drop Troops Witchunter Ally Detatchment Inquisitor Hereticus (Vladimir Marenus) Eviscerator Psychic Power- Hammerhand Power Armor Digital Weapon Frag Grenade Retinue: Crusader (Power Sword and Suppression Shield [4+ Invul save, counts-as 2nd CCW) Acolyte (Power Weapon and Bolt Pistol) Commissar (Viacheslav Praetus) Power Weapon Las-Pistol Caraprace Armor Command Headquarters: Senior Officer (Lieutennant Colonel XXX XXX) Mortar Team 2 Guardsmen Anti-Tank Squad 3 Lascannon Heavy Weapon Teams 1st Platoon: Junior Officer (Lieutenant XXX XXX) Power Weapon Caraprace Armor Retinue: 4 Guardsmen, Laspistol and CCW 1st and 2nd Squads Warrior Weapon Upgrade 2nd Platoon: Junior Officer (Lieutenant XXX Vakanya) Power Weapon Caraprace Armor Retinue: 4 Guardsmen, Laspistol and CCW 1st and 2nd Squads Warrior Weapon Upgrade 3rd Platoon: Junior Officer (Lieutenant XXX XXX) Las-Pistol CCW Retinue: 4 Guardsmen, Lasgun 1st and 2nd Squads Lasguns Conscript Platoon (Jokingly and derisively called "Zeroth" Platoon by the others) Led by Acting Trooper First Class Jacob Harrikson (no in-game benefit, just a bit o' fluff) 20 Conscripts, lasguns --- Points: 1000 |

the inquisitor setup is all wrong! it may sound good on paper, but its really a point sink. you can keep the eviserator on the lord but crusaders are not worth it. the best setup i've seen is 3 heavy weapon servitors with 2 sages. also throwing in some familiars and pentients.
i'm really hoping for some new options when the codex comes out. the inquisitor needs to be reworked.... bad. |

hmmmm, well you can do an assault inquisitor but they are a little harder to make effective
but crusaders are still a bad option. combat servitors are the better route to go. str 3 gets you nowhere. |

I hate to say it, but there's a flaw in your army list. Any doctrines must be applied to all eligible units unless otherwise specified. Therefore, you must give warrior weapons to all of your Guard Infantry units.
